Air units... Distract those towers!

I've been messing around with air units for the last three weeks or so, and noticed that sometimes defenses seem to attack them even when there are tanks about.

Situation 1 - Tank goes in on a tower, and all seems well, so I deploy the zeppelin to hit a nearby mortar. Next thing I know the tower is targeting my zeppelin.

Do towers switch targets? Or did they somehow manage to target a foot soldier and change targets to the zeppelin after killing it? I need to do some more tests, but I figured it would be easier just to ask. I've had great success deploying extra Wehrmacht to a general to distract towers long enough to run over other defenses, and it never seems to switch targets when I'm body blocking for them. It's a more common occurrence when the tanks have been in the area for a while hitting landmines and just doing what tanks do.

Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Towers shoot the closest target. Since tanks have range and are hence not too close to the tower they are shooting I suspect that your zeppelin got closer to the tower than your tanks. Hence they take the damage.

Seriously, how air unit / defense interact is mysterious. I have tons of replay where zepelin or biplane fly a top of my towers, and they don't shoot. And there is absolutely no other unit to distract the tower. I recently get attacked by a korean from USA Elite who did just that. His attack was decent otherwise, but the air units move he pulled off are very dubious.

Dont understand. I was gonna look at the vid to see if hes cheating. But i guess u can report him if u think thats the case
