Ok Hunny - I've clearly been told.

Did you do the dps comparison for all the other ages? And any other nation?? How do you know if the Germans didn't ALWAYS have an 8% increase over the Romans ??!

I would agree that it's a relative nerf for the Romans in the Global Age.

One of the important things I see for a nation bonus is whether it scales up well with age advancements. I see the benefit as a ratio: increase or bonus available to the nation / base value available to all nations

The German bonus of 15% attack bonus scales up with the ages, because, at each age, the DPS of troops increase with the upgrades, and so, the 15% bonus scales up with the ages.
The British bonuses of 15% additional loot scales up with the ages, because, at each age, we can expect the loot per attack to increase, and the DPS of ranged infantry increases with the upgrade at each age.
The Roman bonus of fielding larger armies stops scaling up at the Global Age. Had there been a barrack troop capacity increase, all nations would have received an increase, and the Romans would have kept up their edge with the corresponding increase from nation bonus.
The French have a diminishing nation bonus, because, at each age, all nations receive an increase in the alliance gate capacity. The fixed increment of +6 means that, as the denominator increases at each age, the significance of the 6 at the numerator (bonus) reduces (the percentage increase in alliance gate troop limit reduces as you advance through the ages).
The Chinese have a diminishing nation bonus, because, at each age, the significance of +1 citizen count and the +1 mercenary camp capacity reduces, as other nations receive an increase through the ages (fixed bonus in the numerator, against an increasing base at the denominator).
The Koreans have a diminishing nation bonus, because, the significance of the +1 tactic reduces, as the overall capacity of tactics increases for all nations.

In summary, the Romans had a nation bonus which scaled up well with age advancement. They now join the other nations where the nation bonus stops scaling up with the ages. Sure, the other nations aren't receiving an increase in barrack troop capacity either, but, the smooth increase in the nation bonus through the ages has been lost for the Romans. The denominator is staying constant, but, it was increasing smoothly until now.

It's a relative nerf for the Germans too - the additional DPS from 15 additional units, and the 15% additional attack bonus from 15 additional units, would have been a smooth increase in nation bonus for the Germans too.

But, the difference is this: the Germans get an overall damage bonus in Global Age from the additional DPS gained from unit upgrades in Global Age. Whereas, the Romans get nothing additional in the Global Age. That's where the Romans come out worse off than the Germans without the additional barrack troop space increase in Global Age.

The nations whose nation bonuses scale up well with the ages are better choices over those with a bonus whose relative value diminishes with the advancement in ages.
