Right now I have like 2300 medals and is so hard to earn them by attacking. I used to have my Urban Center outside their wall, now I put it inside an take out all the gold and food. Do you think this will work? Do you have any other tip to earn more medals?

Gaining medals gets challenging somewhere in that range, because for the most part only very active players with well developed bases and plenty of university research (or abandoned bases with very high level defenses) are in that medal range. So bases with the same level of medals you have are tough, and bases that are easier give a lot fewer medals.

If you really want to move up, your base has to be strong enough to prevent most five star attacks from the age above you; that typically means lots of university research on top of nearly maxed out age defenses, since normally age up offenses have a huge advantage - the university boosts can equalize this a bit though. Or being in the top age with full defenses.

I was in this range a few weeks ago - got over 2400. But every attack meant significant troop losses, so time to rebuild. And instant attacks when I got off, so I was sometimes losing medals on each round. Decided my defenses weren't even close to good enough, maybe in 6 months it will be easier. But I hear it is even worse as you get closer to 3000, and I can get so much more loot with fewer losses at 1000 medals, the league bonuses don't come close to compensating.

you would be much better off dropping in medals for easier raiding. yemen said it, there is no real benefit from being higher medals when you factor in how much easier it is to loot resources.

To actually answer the question posed, rather than just repeating the benefits of lower medals, I was in an alliance with a guy who got into the top 40 medal count and I can assure you it was not easy.

You need a high level base with strong defences and a good layout, you will notice there are very few global age players in the top 100. Any attack and defence bonuses you can get will all help but the trick is being active and planning your game time. You get a peace treaty for being defeated... don't break the peace until you are ready to fight, use the treaty to build stock up on mercenaries, allied troops, trade-able goods and blessings etc. Then when you have spare time break the peace and fight... but one fight will not be enough and that's why you have to plan your gaming time.

You need to make sure you have time to undertake at least two attacks whilst remaining active and possibly having to completely retrain your army and get now mercs. You need two or three steps forward before you log off and in all liklihood get attacked and take a step back. This way you will always be moving forward, inch by inch.

You will also have to get really good at attacking, my friend used .....

You didn't mention what age and level are you. That effects to some level. I was 2300 medals 4-5 months back and now I am hanging around 2800-2900 medals for almost 2-3 months now. I am satisfied with my current level so not pushing further. Assuming you are a global player, my tip would be. I usually attack twice a day and if the if have enough troop left from my previous attack I do more attacks. Sometimes in a week, I do raiding for continuous one hour.

Offensive:
1) if you are a casual player like me, search for the opponent with the most medals and within your capability. You use full army power and resources. Get most stars out of it and repeat the same in next peace treaty cycle.
2) Do continuous raiding at least once a week.
2) When you decide to do continuous attacks, look for weak bases and raid them without using tactics. 5 star them and with training, blessing does multiple easy attacks. When you decide to get off the game, do a final attack with your whole army and search for the opponent with high medals reward.'

Defensive:
1) TBH, you will be at mercy of luck, how much medals you're losing per day in defense. However, if you want to lose fewer medals, put your town center out and make multiple boxes of walls, so that attacker thinks it as a hard base and just go for 2 stars qv which will save your medals. The downside of getting 2 stars is that you get 8 hours peace treaty and it is hard to keep track of it especially when you sleep.
2) If you think your base is strong defensively with the forbidden city, go for challenging base layout to get some defensive victory once in a while.

There is a benefit. It feels good to be on top ranking players and also nice league rewards.
Low medals are for raiders. High medals are for fighters.

To each their own i guess, but i feel good raiding a ton of loot and not stressing out about my medal count not being high enough.

I'm only Industrial Age, and when I got up around 2000 medals it just wasn't worth it to push further. I would get attacked within minutes of signing off, so it really offset many of the gains I was getting. It also had a big negative impact on my NTG, as I was riding out peace treaties to avoid further losses. Now I'm sitting around 1200 medals and haven't been attacked in six days. I'd say the only downside to lower medals is that you don't encounter as many bases with a ton of oil.

I'm currently lvl 200 global age (I want a maxed base before switching to atomic) and a few month ago I was in the 2800 medal range. It was long and difficult, for every few medals I won (at this point unfortunately many attacks only bring you 1 medal to win) and I lost many when being attacked because my base wasn't strong enough. So I was empire league and I wanted to enter dynasty league at least once to get the 2000 crowns success, it was just impossible without being in front of the game 24h a day. So for the moment I stopped, I dropped back to 1000 or even less, I earn much ressources, diamonds and ntg by destroying easily weak bases with 5 stars and it's much more fun without any pressure. Maybe I start the race for medals again when I'm maxed atomic age (unless the next age will be ready, if so I continue like now).

Im not as high as you but i do the same. I earn a ton of diamonds/ntg/etc from attacks.

I also max my defensive buildings, library, embassy, war academy, and all barrack upgrades for the troops i use/collitions/and tactics i use. Once thats done i move on to the next age. I keep 1 worker free to upgrade walls when i have excess resources during upgrade times.
