So I use them in raids and pretty much (no wall sappers) and No matter how good the layout for protecting resources, it seems like all I have to do is spawn them all in and rally them to the storages when they have cleared the outer caravans and farms (no war tactics and/or blessings. Then I get 80%-100% of their loot depending on their layout and defense leveling.
In terms of the defensive end, with my base layout and maxed most defenses (still gotta do that last catapult), it is the same thing they clear some farms/caravans then they just rally to a section with a storage and break through and instakill it then break through to the next area (no wall sappers) and instakill the next storage. Usually they get around 50% of the available loot.
What I noticed when attacking/defending with this troop is that they kill those resource buildings super fast (which is alright, that is their specialty), but they also kill walls, defense troops quickly. They are also tanky enough to tank up maxed out towers/catapults for long enough to break through to your resources and numerous enough so that cannons picking them off doesn't do much as the rest are still able to break walls while the cannon reloads.
There doesn't seem to be enough countering to them compared to other troops for example:
Lancers can get overwhelmed by defensive troops and stalled for towers/cannons to do damage against them while they try to break through walls.
halberdiers and arquebruiesers are weak against AOE damage from redoubts and mortars.
Supply Carts and Ballistas are defenseless against enemy troops.
These Dragoon Raiders on the other hand (from the perspective of attacking also by the way I only use them now since I want loot) they can take up a large amount of damage, they are super fast at tearing through your base due to their movement speed and high damage output and their rather low troop space of course allow you to have a lot of them so cannon towers are not really a weakness unlike with Lancers. Another thing is that their movement speed also allows them to avoid enemy troops and get out of range of buildings once they have killed their target.
What do you guys think a little too strong for looting? I think so, I am getting approx 100-240k food and gold (each) so easily with them (without much strategy too and this is a strategy game, kinda takes some fun out). I reckon their problem is that they are able to break through walls far too easily may be reduced damage against walls (maybe enemy troops too, probably not)?
