Ok, I've been playing French for a long time and I have to say I like them better than the Romans. My reasons: 1. I don't want to play a nation everyone else is. 2. Right from the get-go they have better alliance gates, holding 21 troops at ea. 3. Cavs are indestructible, more health makes them the tanks of ancient history, especially with armour blessing. 3. Faster troop training is really nice, it's allowed me to play for longer periods. Those are my thoughts, if you'd like to comment why I could be wrong or right, feel free, it's not like I can stop you.

The number one reason Rome has the strongest unique ability is because it scales up throughout the ages, becoming incredibly powerful post-enlightenment. It will only ever get stronger as new ages are released. A larger army size has another hidden benefit, as others in this forum have pointed out, in that destroying an enemy's base in a shorter amount of time results is fewer troop losses. This, in itself, reduces the benefit the French might get from faster training times. Depending on your alliance, you may not be able to take full advantage of your troop donation ability, but even if you are it's still rather underwhelming. Honestly, don't worry too much about your Nation, they need and will be balanced. It blows my mind hardly any ones caught on to how underrated and incredibly powerful Germany right now. All I mean is, who knows, an update or two from now we may login to see the Highscores page full of British and Greeks.
