Armored Cars or Artillery? Which is best for Defense in World War?

Ever since World Wars been introduced every alliance I've been to and my alliance still use Field Howitzers. Now with all with all these extra hitpoints I'm thinking of filling up War Bases with Heavy Tanks where possible. Reason for it is you can take out Field Howitzers in one strife where's Heavy Tanks got a lot more hitpoints.

Can't comment on Armoured Cars since I've never used them.

This I believe is the best combo according to the level of the alliance gate each player has. The howie range is what makes it better than armored cars imho.
But IF someone has armored cars MK5+ then they could be viable as they have so many hitpoints and planes don't seem to be able to kill them quickly.

36 spots
4 howies or 1 HT + 1 howie

33 spots
3 howies+bazooka or 1 HT + howie

30 spots
3 howies or 1 HT + 1 bazooka

27 spots
3 howies or 1 HT

24 spots
1 HT

21 or less
only howies

I should have mentioned how the Star Trek alliance normally loads the War Bases: We load our War Bases with Field Howitzers - as many as they can hold - and then we backfill with Range 5 Shooters such as British. However, as an experiment, our next WW we will load max Armored Cars and then backfill with Range 5 Shooters. I want to see how the Armored Cars perform as compared to Artillery.

At Ownage, we fill the top bases with armored cars. Not being tanks, they are not vulnerable to air attack.

Armored cars are already a popular choice, and they are about to get buffed in Stage 4. Heavy tanks work well too.

Armored cars are our first choice, plus one howitzer for bases where the troop space is odd. One HT can replace 4 acs if the player has splash damage.

I think RPGs are going to be a surprisingly good choice now that they have splash damage. Fast, high hp, and murder on the damage for tanks, while still being pretty good for everything else.

they are not considered tanks so they don;t take the full damage but the lower one. One time I had my planes make 2-3 full runs to kill them. It was horrible hahaha

Armored cars are great for bases that wouldn't normally be attacked by players with aircraft, so Gunpowder and below. At enlightenment and above, even though fighters have a tougher time killing them, they are still vulnerable. They are not good as fillers, e.g. to top off a 24 base that you have already given 2 heavy artillery to.

We fill most bases with heavy artillery, but only out of habit. Everyone is expecting them and has a strategy to kill them, so we do need to start using other options.

We sometimes fill top bases (33 space) with MRLs because you can donate 4 instead of 3 HA and 6 shooters. They are much less visible than HA so attackers don't see them until too late.

I'm curious how viable machineguns are as warbase troops now that they fire over walls. Depending on the layout they may be good when paired with a mix of heavy tanks and zooks. They may even make MRLs viable, if the slow down effect manages to give the MRL's time to fire multiple volleys. Alas, mine are still industrial age so it will be quite awhile before I can test them.

Yeah, that’s the problem now with Artillery, everyone expects them to roll out of a City Center, and everyone has a strategy to counter. That’s what got me thinking and wanting to experiment with Armored Cars.

Usually we put howies... very effective, 0 oil cost. Armored Cars work too, but they get more easily killed by tanks, especially HTs, due to their lower range. Walls are also more of an issue with ACs. Under the bottom line imho they are not cost effective...
However, with the buff in Bazookas, I think having RPGs swarm out of the TC also doing splash damage regardless of research (HT!) have potential to obliterate an army, including any HTs, if they get close enough. Additionally, they are hard to kill, as they have high HP and not getting the „tank penalty“ at airstrikes.
