Hi guys,

im currently playing as French in the IA. Untill now i maxed out my troops and nearly want to jump to GA. However im doing fine untill now in wars, i still seem to struggle a bit. At the moment i run

3x tanks
5x artillery
2x supply trucks
27x rifleman
10x shock Infantry and
1x gatling gunner
and ofc
3x planes

Mercs:
2x flame tanks
1x foot troops

Ally-Request: 3x artillery 3x riflemen

tactics: mostly
4x sabotage
1x protect
(depends on the enemy base if i take betrayal. but i think its only worth with the GA upgrade)

So i always normaly get 4 stars, but hardly ever 5 against an equal oponent.

Is there a better troop-setup that im missing? or is it just my "troop placement" that preventgs myself from getting 5 stars against an also maxed out IA - enemy?

I wonder if i should switch to Brits, since my riflemen mostly get destroyed by the morters far too quick. Would take 4 tanks instead of 3 then, for the cost of some riflemen.

It's hard to give you any input without actually seeing one of your attacks but from the sound of it (I'm assuming the 5th star you're struggling with is 100%destruction) you need to increase your dps output.
With 2flammpanzers, 2 generals and 3 tanks the last thing you want to do is adding another tank.
Your generals and mercs should be more than enough to soak up dmg from mortars. Put in 3-4more artillery and replace the melee infantry with ranged infantry to protect your artillery. The reason you're losing your riflemen is most likely because you're not taking down the enemy buildings fast enough.

I'm a Frenchie - new GA - and I agree with Kaiser. I would take out the gat and 5 foot soldiers and put in either an extra artillery or rifles. U can experiment with both in MP. Attack tougher bases when u experiment to better simulate a war battle.

thats 100% true. Im only struggling with the remaining time. i often destroy all defensive buildungs but dont get the rest in time. in the last war i already replaced the footmen with more ranged infantry, but didnt add another artillery. ill give it a try. Thx so far.

I am industrial French, and run with 3 tanks and 5+3 artillery and can wipe bases with it just fine. I always take 3 supply trucks, and I'm still missing one barrack upgrade.

I wouldn't go so heavy on shock infantry, just take 4-5 for cleanup, and also drop the gatling gunner. Then you can take 1 more artillery if you struggle with clear speed, or 1 more tank if you want your troops to be safer.

Your riflemen should not die to mortars though. Either make sure your tanks are in front so they soak up the mortar shots, or sabotage the mortars, or suppress them with fighter planes. Basically if mortars kill your main force your attack execution went wrong, not your troop composition.

you have too little shooters. Shooters had become the backbone in later ages. thats why British and Korean become favourist.
My raid army: 1 tank or APC-2 healer-6 or 7 howitzer- the rest is shooters! Alliance gate: 3 more howitzers.

I'm with French in IA, have 135 troops space. My army contains:
7 tanks
3 artillery
1 supply truck
24 Rifleman
7 Shock Infantry
3 mk2 triplanes

I'm doing very well in WW, getting 5 stars victory almost in every attack and I'm gathering a lot of resources in multiplayer as well.

Well, it always comes down to a personal preference. I don't see how the britsh nation would benefit from another tank. With the extra range/survivability you'll benefit more from removing the tanks but again, some players prefer having extra tanks. As a rule of thumb though: If you're struggling with dps, add artillery. If you're overwhelmed by defenders, add ranged infantry.
Personally I'd say that there's no such thing as too high dps. Having less than 12 artillery pieces seems really low, even for an Industrial age player.
As far as tanks go, most players skip them in world wars and only bring 2 in raids to compensate/replace the generals/mercs.

I'm not sure how set you are on changing nation but I've never heard of anyone changing FROM the french. Keep in mind that many transition into a bazooka/howitzer build in global age which would certainly diminish the value of the british unique troops.
