Is anyone using bazookas? If yes, how many and in what army composition? They look good on paper but when I use them (French, 5x tank, 6x howi, 2x ambulance), they always die very soon. Am I doing something wrong or do they generally suck?

biggest issue for Bazookas is their range. With only a range of 3, they go in front of nearly everything and die quickly. The range should be increased to 4 and they would be more useful.

I use 1-2 for clean up as they pack a punch. But if u drop em with main comp they do too soon as they run out ahead of all troops and usually an anti tank guns gets em. But they r excellent troops for cleaning up and they have saved some 5*
victories for me against high lvl AA bases in WW.

Global bazookas take 4 troop space and deal 1155 dps. Global infantry takes 1 space with 315 dps. By the looks of it, infantry is better for clean-up plus they are more versatile as you can deploy them one by one in different places. Why would bazookas be better?

I was not a fan of bazookas in the past. I made a few test recently and found they are more useful than I expected. To me, it's because of 3 factors working together: With the boosted healer (atomic and university) they are staying longer on the battlefield, Infanteries produced by APCs serve perfectly as meat shield for bazookas and other units, they quiet down the most furious tanks, even boosted by saladin upgrades.

This is due to diff factors. I have Bgate wonder which give them attack buff, plus their hp is better than footies, they do 7x damage against buildings, walls, tanks. In my comp I can see difference between them and footies right of the back. It's been working very good so far.

Yes !! Bazookas are my favorite unit !
When i raid with them, i use 7 tanks in front, and three supply carts behind.
Choosing bases with sprung traps.... unless the oil loot is so juicy, that it is worth losing a few zookas.
Planes, tanks, and the occasionnal demolition tactic, to take care of the cannon towers.

Very powerful units, and they make nice donation units for offensive, too. They fulfill a lot of roles nicely: kill tanks, which start becoming very pesky after people start getting their tanks on defense past the industrial/Renault-FT stage; do high damage to buildings; and break down walls the second fastest after wall breakers, which can only break down walls for one attack and then become useless.

This thread is a bit old though.... zookas' AI was changed sometime later.
They no longer go on suicide missions to target tanks.
They're still wild, though !!

Also when you consider the alternative for the same troop space is either 3 heavy infantry, 3 light infantry, 1 machine gunner, or 1 raider - it's got a really strong pay off for its price.

After reading this thread I started playing around with them last night and I was really pleased with the results, even though I cannot quite put my finger on why. Just based off stats 4 foot solders should be better (especially since my bazookas are not upgraded at all yet) but my army with 3 bazookas was just cutting through bases one after the other.

Does anyone know if they do x7 damage to heavy horsemen too (aka enlightenment age or lower "tanks")? I'm thinking of donating them to my wife's account to see if she likes them but she's not yet running into real tanks.

I am donating zookas to my gunpowder accounts in war, it has saved my war attack a few times, when my rifles got killed off fast. (alternatively, they could destroy buildings if my rifles stayed alive and i lost my siege units, but that isn't a situation i've faced. )
five zookas to my french account, three zookas to my german account (and they work with +15% attack).

With walls elevating quickly after the release of food for walls, their x7 damages against walls ability comes in handy.

Try troop composition with at least 10 of zookas, you'll love them.
With 10 zookas walls are destroyed in 1-2 seconds, even huge tank and Heavy Tank spawn ain't an issue , and you really don't need planes to guard your troops since all defensive buildings are destroyed in matter of 1-3 seconds.
To effectively guard zookas though you need to be Atomic and have APC, that's where fun starts, with 2-3 APC's infantry spawn your zookas won't die .
Swap planes for either 2xZepelin , or transport and a plane , and see which air support suits your playstyle.
Zookas are OP, but you need to learn to play with them and save rally for times when they scatter so much that each or each second one goes in different direction and concentrates on other target

Taking your viewpoint - why use field howies? They take 9 troop spaces , deal 812 dps , and don't attack defenders. Taking 9 infantry units in their place is from your viewpoint definitely better in dps output and should yeld better results since 9 infantry units from Gunpowder Age can deal more dps than one field howie, and infantry has chance to kill defenders where howitzer doesn't

Yes, they do deal 7x damage to cavalry, dunno if it's due to a bug, but even to not upgraded to tanks horsemen .
I donated 4 of those to my EA account , 4 zookas ko'ed spawning horsemen with first salve

Absolutely, since the reply was regarding clean-up at the end of an attack, I would take 9 heavy infantry over 1 field howi any time. Only a lunatic would save a howi for a clean-up.

So I ask again, would you take 4 infantry or 1 bazooka for a clean-up?
