Redoubts never attack them, mortars and snipers always do. Towers usually do, I'd say at least 95% of the time.

Sometimes though it seems the rifles get an odd angle on towers that means they can attack without receiving return fire.

As a British player myself, I'm full aware of what attacks and what doesn't. What I'm asking is, if a defense building, like the redoubt, has a range of 7, and the British rifles only have a range of 5, then why doesn't the redoubt attack the British rifles?

idk if they were meant to be so overpowered
but to whoever says they r not you r absolutely wrong
british players using Howitzers + british rifles only comb is like saving 2 sabotages for castle and TC
there only concern will be Mortars which will be rendered useless against them if u use protect on ur troops ( u won't even need sabotage)
u can also check youtube videos of one of the top warring alliances using just howies british rifle combo no healers no protect and he can entirely wipe out maxed bases with 1 to 1:30 mins left getting 5*

so improvements as increasing TC detection range and castle would solve part of the problem which is better than not doing anything at all and leaving it as it is

i also don't think the new stronghold will make it any better

you are absolutely correct on all points.

3 Healers with 5 artillery and the rest ranged rifles will level any city.

I think that it depends on where you count from. If you count from the edge of the redoubt to the circle it's 5 spaces. From the center of the redoubt it's about 7 spaces which is where I think they get range of 7. Also would account for Brit rifles to be able to hit the redoubt with their +1 range by sitting right outside the AOE and hitting the side of the redoubt.

Redoubts don't fire on any nations rifle men, I know if you look at the info it says range 7 the same as towers, but it's clearly wrong. The are the most worthless defensive building in the game.

I always though the +1 range perk is a good enough perk. They don't really need the +15% attack to be total badass and removing this perk would better balanced this unit ( not a game changer though)

The towers and redoubts all have range 7. But they count the range from their center. So their actual range counted from the edge is only 4!!
Sometimes, normal range 4 rifleman, with an awkward angle, can out-range them. So why can't the legitimate range 5 brit rifles out-range those! :D

Why are you people complaining about the Brits +1 range? They're British ''longbowmen'' - they're supposed to outrange the enemy, by definition! They would look pretty silly if they were matched by medium or even short bowmen! :)
If anyone has any record of being attacked by NO other nation except the brits I will understand your complaints, but I seriously doubt this is the case with anyone.

Britain is not overpowered, its just that chinese, greeks and Japs are stupidly underpowered. Rest of the nations are quite well balanced and have their own feat which makes them stand out pretty well along with the brits

Eliminating all shooters ability to shoot over walls, or reducing it to only pre-gunpowder age (when they're actually firing weapons that travel in an arc), would go a very long way toward balancing this game. Mortars and saboteurs would have some use, and the all-too-common advancing wall of shooters that comprises most attacks, until late-Industrial, would be drastically reduced. Unfortunately, it's too late for that, and one to two thirds of people would quit if that were to occur.

Feel free to slag me and make assumptions about my ability(or lack thereof). It's only fair, I do the same with the shooter swarmers too. ; )

Different strokes, rich tapestry, and whatnot.

The +1 range and extra damage makes them the CLEAR choice when choosing any of the 3 unique shooter nations. Please correct me if I'm wrong but when the game first released I cannot remember the Brits having the additional damage on top of their range bonus. Give the Brits a passive second ability and take away the additional damage from shooter units and I think that would be a suitable balance.

Cmon, newbies. You can't be that blind.
When you can use all your tactics in one attack then British are way too much overpowered, as sabotage with longer range of the cheapest troop (in troop space size) and a relatively easy access of its buffs in the university is huge. So if you like wars Brits is the way.
Playing French is more fun in multiplayer, as you can attack more often during your playtime.

I'm pretty sure they always had the extra damage, but initially the exact stats didn't show on the change/choose nation screen.
