The more those kind of games u play the more wise choices u make ;) Patience is the key with them. It actually doesn't matter if u speed up certain building/upgrade etc. while there r still tons of days ahead of u. What difference does it make if u play this game 3 or 4 years? Actually the longer u play it the longer all the fun u have :) So it's not only where u spend your money and remember that u can always save them unless u r a millionaire. You also have to keep this in your mind that one day u might not be able to work so it's a wise choice to save money wherever u can ;)

I've played few games like this one before and I still wonder why do I keep playing them. It's much more fun to spend 100$ on one AAA PC or console game and have real sense of completion while here it takes years and years and someday u just quit because it will take u few days to raid enough resources to upgrade a single wall piece (ie. Clash of Clans) ;) Everybody must give up one day once u realize it's impossible to play further and real money won't make any difference. Game must be fun, otherwise it's a job which costs your time and money and give u nothing in return ;)

I figured out a while back that the first day was 300 crowns. After that it was a flat 123 per day, or 5 crowns per hour. I wonder if they changed the prices?

This is probably the best overall way to spend crowns in the game.

OK, let me see if I've got this correct.

Crowning upgrades with 4 workers is best

If you are going to use crowns to speed up upgrades, the earlier I do it the better because even though I am spending more total crowns at once, the earlier I do it, the better price or value I am getting for my crowns.

Crowning defense can be virtually pointless or a waste.

Crowning offense is the best option.

And finally, crowning at the barracks is a great idea because it essentially opens a door to a hallway felled with many more doors, versus defense just opening a door that has only one window.

All your guys advice rocks, any more will be much appreciated and thanks so much for taking the time.

Some more observations,

Crowing costs the same irrespective of the number of workers required for the upgrade. So it makes sense to crown upgrades which require more workers (so that you can use workers for some thing else). Crowning Global age upgrade which requires 10 workers is a no brainer.

Do not use crowns to buy resorces (gold/food/oil). By doing that you end up getting less game time and paying money for it. Best option is to collect the resources for an upgrade and do an instant upgrade (it costs lot more if you are short of resources).

He he he - chalk!!

Well said sir Knight. This game - like anything in life - is worth only what someone wants to spend on it. Personally, l would rather spend a small monthly stipend on something that gives me enjoyment than not - and definitely wouldn't recommend any type of drug either!!!! For shame - a fellow knight should know better!!!

Crowning early on is fine if you're an active player - if you're casual you might want to crown the cost but not the time. That's what l do if l don't have the full amount but happy to wait a few days.

Well my good man, that might have been a bit revealing of myself. I won't bother to point out my own justifications as your right, a knight should know better. But I have been through some dark ages in my life, that are not quite bright and sunny yet but partly cloudy and looking to be clearing up. And somedays it was me choosing the drugs over spending that .75 cents on my forehead. So, as bad as they are and as hard as it was, it carried me through until I could realize life wasn't a big pile of Doo Doo. My life has been quite amusing at times and has gone from one extreme to the other.

But yes my good man, a White Knight, DEFINITELY does know better. As he seeks to better first himself his faith, his family and his folk.

I'm still a student so I don't actually spend money in the game myself, which could easily bias my method...
I always try to keep 300-1000 crowns as a backup to spend on upgrades whenever there's an event. The biggest thing about being IA and GA is upgrade time, and I've been stuck without workers during an awesome event so many times. So I keep crowns for those instances and spend them so I can splurge on the event and upgrade my town for cheap rss.

I spend on my switch to Germans and my switch from tag mahal to versailles. The rest are on minor impatient upgrades. Usually when it's near the end.
