Greetings leaders! I hope everyone is having a great time playing the game and enjoying the new Global Age content and events we’ve been running. We’ve been hard at work putting the finishing touches on some big new features as well as fixing bugs and tightening security. For this month’s design spotlight we took some topics from the community. Please keep the questions coming, as we take your feedback very seriously. Now onto the answers!

Are there any plans to reconfigure the method in which World War match-ups are found, specifically to address the distorted "weight" of an alliance via inclusion of under developed allies on the roster?
Matchmaking in World War is something that we follow very closely. We spent a lot of time trying to come up with an algorithm that would allow for good war matchups and it's a big concern of ours when it doesn’t work out the way we intended. We will be evaluating this further to ensure the best matchmaking experience possible for everyone.

Will there be any new tactical control options for troops (similar to Rally)?
There aren’t any current plans to add new tactical control options for troops. We tried out various incarnations of Rally when developing the game but didn’t find any as fun as what is currently in game. That being said, the idea of adding a 2nd Rally, or something similar to Rally, has come up internally a lot over the last 6 months. Likely it would take the form of a wonder power (or something akin to that), or perhaps it would be added with a host of other new tactics.

Will there be new levels of strategical goals/options in world war - like use the risk map to award points for domination of a continent - allow more sophisticated coordination for attacks?
We certainly discussed things like strategic goals when developing World War but ended up cutting them in the interest of expediency. It is on the list to try to evaluate adding a feature or features like this a few releases from now. Some kind of bonus around continents definitely makes sense and we kept that in mind when developing the map so that we could potentially add it in at a later date.

Will players be able to talk to other players privately? At least mail them, if not private chat. If so, expected timeline? It would be very useful to talk to members that have left alliance, etc.
Private messaging is not currently in the works, but I could certainly see it being useful. At the very least I’ll make sure it gets added to our alliance/social improvements list, so we can evaluate it against other priorities.

Are war replays in the plans? Will we be able to share them with other members in-game (to help show them how to attack?)
Yes, we have been working on World War replays and you should expect to see them very soon. We are also looking at how allow players to share the replays with their allies.

Please do something about Saboteur, like increase move speed., reduce troop capacity or give him an ability to take only 50% of traps damage. I’d love for the unit to be more useful!
We agree the the Saboteur/Commando line could be more useful. We definitely noticed how much more fun it was to use Ninjas than Commandos. It’s on our list to look at and comments like this help to increase the priority of putting a change in the game.

Will we ever have an official World War leaderboard in game? I think the community have given up on an unofficial leaderboard as it was too much work…
Yes, we have started work on a World War leaderboard and you can expect to see it in a release very soon. It’s still being developed so if there’s anything in particular you’d like to see with it, now’s a good time to throw out suggestions. No promises though =)

Can we make the World War Reports cleaner/neat? If Fred attacked Bob, I want it to read 3.Fred Attacked 4.Bob... With all these foreign names, it's difficult to see if people are attacking high/low. We need to at-least see numbers/ranks, would make life much easier as an Alliance Owner of 48 people.
Labeling players by rank in the World War Reports makes a lot of sense to me. As an alliance leader myself, I also have trouble reading names of opponents in languages I can’t read myself. It’s a good suggestion and I will make sure it gets added to our World War improvements list so that we can evaluate it against our other priorities.

Could you alter the new Alliance search function to not count inactive Alliances? When searching now a lot of inactives seem to pop up.
When we changed the Alliance search function it was not our intention to include more inactive alliances. Instead we wanted to make sure that active but less visible alliances were able to be found by prospective new members. As there has been a lot of chatter about this issue it is something that we would like to find a solution to that satisfies everyone’s needs.

Glad to hear about war replays - please do everything you can to make them shareable from the start, imo this is where the real value is.

Also very happy to hear about war ranking systems. I hope that size of matchup is somehow taken into account. I feel that its pretty easy to drop down to 15-25 members and do exceptionally well, but much more challenging to have very good scores in 40v40.

Please fix 1) Alliance search function, revert it back while you look for a long term solution, its killing alliances right now and will continue to do so while you wait to decide what to do. Its awful. 2) Fix war disconnect issues that was caused by the last update, its reducing 5* attacks to 0-2* attacks every single match for us. Horribly demoralizing and supports responses do nothing to help.

Thank you for bringing some light on new developments.
I would like to have some responses on the following questions also:
1. Are there any plans for moving battles and resource gathering including buildings on the server side? The only way of beating cheaters.
2. Do you plan to make retrain work properly without distributing strangely the troops between barracks?
3. What is so hard to display the battles in the report in the reverse order avoiding scrolling all the time to last to see the last battle result.
4. What is the priority of the donations and chat fixes. Old problems start to surface again
5. Fixing the troop attacks of the walls. Each archer next to each other taking his own pece of wall for example.
.....
What about a list of things that are in the works now to avoid list of questions like this.


I really like the design of the game but the execution needs improvement. A lot.

World War leaderboard is a bit pointless now. Lots of alliances are losing wars because of disconnection issues, so leaderboard won't reflect the reality. Fix the crashes and connection problems first.

Alliance search needs to be reverted to what it was, the sooner the better. What shows in search right now is mostly alliances with 1 player. Established alliances are suffering badly. The old search function worked just fine. As an example, I started my alliance shortly after World Wars were introduced. The alliance filled from 1 member to 46 overnight. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Do you have any plans to address food imbalance? In 120 days I'll be done with armory researches that require food, so I'll be wasting it again.

Any chance of multi leader or multi alliance challenges, events or campaigns?

Also can water area be used for naval units or other gameplay or is this dead space?

Of the topics you mentioned, War is the more crucial for us because we are war focused alliance.

1) War replay - great to hear it's coming. I hope the ability to share replay wouldn't be available until the base is 5 star because if alliance can share replay during war, the next person would know where all the traps are. Making it easy for the next person to attack.

2) War ranking - will you retroactively include all the wins and losses we have accumulated? So far we have 60 wins and 15 losses. I hope you can include all the wars in the past in the war leaderboard

3) A better war matching system would be nice. Sometimes we get matched up with all GBA and IA bases and we have 1/3 of my war roster still in EA. How is that a fair match up?

4) A war loot or star bonus for controlling a continent should be added so the war map is more dynamic and interesting.

5) War connection and crashing issues. Biggest issue right now. THIS IS PRIORITY. I hate getting 100% on my attack and come back to the loading screen to see the circle of death. Wasted so much resources and time and didn't even count.

I agree with what have been posted above including the Network Server Errors which is currently the biggest problem in the game(effects mostly Global Age players).

I want to add two more - 1) Leader & Coleaders need better option for assigning 1st & 2nd targets to their players during World War. One option I would like to see is Assign targets in the War Map itself like dragging my players map block to Assign target of opponents player Map block OR simply selecting our players in War Map gives option for list opponents player that can be Assign as targets for 1st and 2nd attack.

2) Troops deployment tab needs option to resize and reshuffle. Also once a particular Troops tab is empty it should be erased and invisible for better clarity in Troops selection and with that South West corner of the opponents base gets visible during Attacks.

Please fix current and past issues before introducing any new features ;)

On World War leaderboard , I think something like an Elo rating system, if you win against high rating alliance, you win more points. And we can hold something like a C1 soccer cup for top alliances. It will be fun!

Not sure about Elo rating, the current 1/39 medal mess appears to be based on elo.

It works for chess because that does reflect a genuine talent for playing the game, no cheaty chess pieces or wonky time clocks and the identical set of rules. This game is a complete abortion

I disagree with both.
1) I don't believe that members should be forced to attack particular war opponents.
2) I rather like being able to keep track of the surviving troops (and when I lose them i.e. cannons). It really is useful information for employing back up troops like mercs, alliance or event troops.

1) In a big World War like 35v35 or 40v40 ,it can be gud option where you Assign targets to your players.And players can always attack other base if War plan changes ,since it will be option.
2) Agree with Tracking of Troops lost during Attacks, but Reshuffle and Resize option Troops deployment tab should be given. Many time we wrongly press Air Troops button than Rally button.

1) I agree it can be useful, especially for those who would like to be directed. But I feel that should be the option. Players should not be forced (by the game) against specific opponents. If an alliance wants to discipline those who don't follow the instructions, is a separate matter.
Its fine if there are suggested targets (made by leaders/co-lead) to guide members. But no force :)

2) I agree with custom organizing the troop tray, and maybe slight resizing. It does bother me when I have to scroll to right to try to quickly grab my protect on my old tablet. It has cost me a lot on various occasions.

Seriously no comment on crashes, network issues and wrong scored attacks on both worldwar and multiplayer? Really don't care that much about your players and paying customers? Must be kidding us!

JHawkins What are your thoughts on the current nation balancing? What does it say about the game when pretty much all the nations on the leaderboard are one of three nations. and others like Greece and Japan rarely get any love. I've written extensively about this from a Greek nation perspective and am interested in hearing your thoughts.

Agree, Greek needs Time boost like 20-25% Quicker completion of task.
For Japan, as mighty defense they need 20-25% Hitpoint Nation Bonus on their Building and Walls.Also TC dps needs to be like Air defense so that players will think twice before attacking a Japanese Nation for its mighty defense.

If they give these Nation Bonus ,players will think hard whether to go for offence,defense or Quick upgrade time in Nation selection.

Wow I can't believe I missed this thread. Thank you JHawkins for enlightening us on some of our forum issues. It's good to know we are being heard. I agree with many who have voiced there opinions here. IMHO this is the order in which you need to address your upcoming changes...

1) FIX WAR MATCHING SYSTEM it's never a good thing when you have a mix of Global-IA-EA-GPA players wanting to war on your team and you are matched with a Global/IA Korean alliance where your #25 is a lv 67 Gunpowder and their #25 is a lv147 Global. It happened to us two wars ago. How on earth was it even possible this match came up? We have been experiencing this type of imbalance very frequently and it has really taken its toll.

2) FIX THE CRASHES it's not on our side it is on yours and it is happening more frequently. We can count on at least 2 crashes in a war and it doesn't happen to the same people. doesn't matter what device they have and they use different types of connections. I'm sorry but you are the only common factor in this so instead of blaming us look to your own server and fix it.

3) MAKE FAIR LEADERBOARD(S) this is going to be a difficult task as some alliances have different levels of players in them. Would there be a way of having multiple leader boards for maxed out alliances, mid level alliances, low level alliances and for the alliance's with a mix of many different level players? Alliances seem to fit into these catagories and it would be much more meaningful to us if we competed with like alliances rather than watch the maxed out alliances battle for top spot. With this type of scenario I can see that we would have to have seasonal leaderboards of a month or two with possibly rewards at the end for winners of each catagory rather than the open ended list we now have for medals.

4) FIX YOUR CURRENT REPLAY SYSTEM BEFORE ADDING WAR REPLAYS - more times than not I crash when I try to replay an attack and I have heard complaints about this from others. Do we really need to add more occasions to crash?

Gp lvl70-ish Danix IV #24 had the opportunity to go up against #22, lvl133 global, 85% destruction of his basiically Gp defense, and when I looked a while ago, he had bombards, so it may look odd, but not necessarily way off

I mean IV-all offense and defense, that other guy, all economy and stuff like air defense that dont matter to someone without air units
