Greetings leaders! I hope everyone is having a great time playing the game and enjoying the new Global Age content and events we’ve been running. We’ve been hard at work putting the finishing touches on some big new features as well as fixing bugs and tightening security. For this month’s design spotlight we took some topics from the community. Please keep the questions coming, as we take your feedback very seriously. Now onto the answers!
Are there any plans to reconfigure the method in which World War match-ups are found, specifically to address the distorted "weight" of an alliance via inclusion of under developed allies on the roster?
Matchmaking in World War is something that we follow very closely. We spent a lot of time trying to come up with an algorithm that would allow for good war matchups and it's a big concern of ours when it doesn’t work out the way we intended. We will be evaluating this further to ensure the best matchmaking experience possible for everyone.
Will there be any new tactical control options for troops (similar to Rally)?
There aren’t any current plans to add new tactical control options for troops. We tried out various incarnations of Rally when developing the game but didn’t find any as fun as what is currently in game. That being said, the idea of adding a 2nd Rally, or something similar to Rally, has come up internally a lot over the last 6 months. Likely it would take the form of a wonder power (or something akin to that), or perhaps it would be added with a host of other new tactics.
Will there be new levels of strategical goals/options in world war - like use the risk map to award points for domination of a continent - allow more sophisticated coordination for attacks?
We certainly discussed things like strategic goals when developing World War but ended up cutting them in the interest of expediency. It is on the list to try to evaluate adding a feature or features like this a few releases from now. Some kind of bonus around continents definitely makes sense and we kept that in mind when developing the map so that we could potentially add it in at a later date.
Will players be able to talk to other players privately? At least mail them, if not private chat. If so, expected timeline? It would be very useful to talk to members that have left alliance, etc.
Private messaging is not currently in the works, but I could certainly see it being useful. At the very least I’ll make sure it gets added to our alliance/social improvements list, so we can evaluate it against other priorities.
Are war replays in the plans? Will we be able to share them with other members in-game (to help show them how to attack?)
Yes, we have been working on World War replays and you should expect to see them very soon. We are also looking at how allow players to share the replays with their allies.
Please do something about Saboteur, like increase move speed., reduce troop capacity or give him an ability to take only 50% of traps damage. I’d love for the unit to be more useful!
We agree the the Saboteur/Commando line could be more useful. We definitely noticed how much more fun it was to use Ninjas than Commandos. It’s on our list to look at and comments like this help to increase the priority of putting a change in the game.
Will we ever have an official World War leaderboard in game? I think the community have given up on an unofficial leaderboard as it was too much work…
Yes, we have started work on a World War leaderboard and you can expect to see it in a release very soon. It’s still being developed so if there’s anything in particular you’d like to see with it, now’s a good time to throw out suggestions. No promises though =)
Can we make the World War Reports cleaner/neat? If Fred attacked Bob, I want it to read 3.Fred Attacked 4.Bob... With all these foreign names, it's difficult to see if people are attacking high/low. We need to at-least see numbers/ranks, would make life much easier as an Alliance Owner of 48 people.
Labeling players by rank in the World War Reports makes a lot of sense to me. As an alliance leader myself, I also have trouble reading names of opponents in languages I can’t read myself. It’s a good suggestion and I will make sure it gets added to our World War improvements list so that we can evaluate it against our other priorities.
Could you alter the new Alliance search function to not count inactive Alliances? When searching now a lot of inactives seem to pop up.
When we changed the Alliance search function it was not our intention to include more inactive alliances. Instead we wanted to make sure that active but less visible alliances were able to be found by prospective new members. As there has been a lot of chatter about this issue it is something that we would like to find a solution to that satisfies everyone’s needs.
