"DPS Against Infantry" vs "DPS Against Defenders" for stronghold defenders

In the Troop Chest:

'Sepoy' says "DPS Against Defenders", unclear meaning on defense in a stronghold.
'Heavy Vandal' says "DPS Against Infantry", clear meaning on defense in a stronghold.

in a stronghold for WW defense ..... are attacking forces considered "Defenders" or not?

notably egyptian, maori, russian defensive coalitions have special defending troops that have "DPS Against Soldier" where i would expect "DPS Against Defender".
this strongly suggests the straight interpretation is correct and "DPS Against Defenders" should not go into the stronghold on defense.
consensus is the common sense interpretation, that these special troops get their full damage against attackers.

edit:
customer service has responded and asserted clearly that the "DPS Against Defenders" DOES NOT apply when defending.
so ... sepoy sucks for stronghold, while odd things like armored car are good for spraying infantry and pirates have life and numbers ....
our alliance was happily/foolishly using hwarang archers and such because intuitively it seemed the best...

Thank you for posting the response from CS!
Definitely something to consider when donating Troop Tactics!

No offense, but I wouldn't accept anything CS says about game dynamics. They have repeatedly been proven wrong in the past. They have given me incorrect information on a number of occasions when asked about similar details.

quovatis in this case i believe them ... the reason i brought it up was because consensus seemed to be incorrect.
defending in stronghold is part of their business model, so the ubiquitous troop chests that people will get just from going into ww a few times is unlikely to have the best defense. common sense suggests that only the event or specialty/purchased troop cards would have good defense properties.
imo this is fine; i just wanted clarification that the literal reading was correct.

From my observed the 3 British shooters from Command Post in defense can kill howitzers very fast so "defenders" apply to attackers too in this case!
