I know I am new here and I am sure this topic has been brought up many times before but farms and caravans are completely useless to upgrade past enlightenment age. Farms seem cheaper than the rest of the buildings which is fine but the amount of reward you get for upgrading it simply isn't worth it. To upgrade my level 13 farm to level 14 I will have to wait 351 days before the small boost in production I get breaks even, with the upgrade cost and the food lost while the farm is upgrading. Why would I want to put any resources into upgrading a farm that I will have to wait almost a year for my efforts to pay off. The only value I can see in upgrading farms and caravans is aesthetics since those level 18 greenhouse farms look very nice. Either the cost of the farm and the time to build needs to be reduced or the upgrades should actually have a noticeable effect on production that will pay off in some time less than 100 days. If I were to choose I think it should be the latter. Right now I am in the global age with mostly enlightenment age farms and caravans and the five good emperors event gave me the feeling of how good this improvement would feel. I don't expect the five good emperor's event effects to be on permanently (it was far too generous enough as it is) but I think that the resource production I was experiencing over the summer should be accessible if I choose to upgrade all my farms and caravans to max level atomic age. Fully maxed atomic age production buildings should be equivalent to enlightenment age production buildings under the 200% effect of the event (or even 120/160%, I will take anything at this point).
