game closes after launch on android

on my nexus 6 (android 5.1), after the latest game update every time I start the game it will take me back to my device home screen after the loading screen shows up. I've tried killing and restarting but that doesn't work. hesitant in trying to reinstall the game until said otherwise. works fine on my iOS devices
