Hold the Gates Event. Saladin was famous for both his military prowess and his chivalric conduct on the battlefield. Take some strategy lessons by upgrading your University, which is 25% cheaper, and researching Saladin's skills, which are 50% cheaper for a limited time! (Event lasts from 15:00 UTC 11/06 until 15:00 UTC 11/13.)

Anyone who can help tell me what resource does Saladin's level 5 (defencive library tech cost) and the capstone use ? Do they use oil by any chance ?

A useless event in my opinion. The problem with Saladin's researches has never been their cost, but the opportunity cost due to number of required villagers and days lost. Even level 10 of Wall & Gate Hitpoints is only 4 million gold, but having 6 villagers work on it for 13 days is what hurts (and that's just one level). I understand that University is an endgame item, but anyone who has the villagers/crowns to do these researches probably isn't going to be waiting for a 50% gold/food discount.

exactly my feelings.waste of time .if CWA is usual new buildings and upgrades etc .i will stop playing .

Regardless of the event being useless, would you know if the level 5 or capstone uses oil for the upgrades ?

Valid points. If you're doing any upgrades that last 2 or 3 days you can do 3 or 4 in a week. The longer upgrades and you're lucky to be doing 2.
Time reduction is what we need, not resources cost!

Acid! - neither skill requires Oil.

Both Defensive Library Tech Cost and Hold the Gates (Capstone) require Food to complete.
