I think it will stay an economic building - it just so happens to span troops if it's destroyed. If a troop (eg: saboteur) walks past the house on the way to a tower, the house won't attack that troop.

It doesn’t matter what it was designed to do. Once you research Conductor, houses spawn defenders just like other defender producing buildings. And they activate when troops are nearby. Infiltrators do trigger them. They don’t spawn anything when destroyed.
Not really, farms with Kremlin spawn defenders once, when destroyed, like factories, barracks, armory, etc., houses spawn defenders continuously just like garrisons or tank depots.
sponge you are correct in saying that Kremlin, factories etc spawns houses when destroyed, however, houses spawn continuously like garrisons and infiltrators or any other troop do trigger the spawning, in my opinion ‘Houses’ should be considered a defensive building.

Does anybody know when finishing Thurman research the houses will spawn riflemen till they are destroyed or do they spawn them just once? From my point of view if they are spawned once, could stay like command posts if they spawn riflemen continuously should be military building.
