This is my first guide really, and I hope that this would become a sticky post for future reference,
I notice all sorts of nation suggestions, and honestly, they lack real organization.
So here's some good tips:
1. Do some research. It is key to every nation suggestion. This will help you find any unique abilities and unique units. No money necessary. Tell us a little about this nation as you make this post.
2. Don't make the unique godlike. Though there are trash unique units (like the Companion Cavalry), look at the bonuses of other unique units. For example, if your nation has a ranged unique, don't give it +20% to all stats. Also, don't hide some of the bonuses either. However, do not forget that the British deal an extra +15% damage and the Chinese, although they fire twice, they also get a 30% DPS boost. Though I speculate the maximum percentage worth of bonuses is 40%, don't spend it all on pure stat bonuses. Though do the research before speculating of the bonuses.
3. Take your time:These can either be quick to be added or you'll need some strong arguments for nations being added.
4. Don't be afraid to Create a unit:The Praetorian Fusilier is the only unit in this game that didn't actually exist. They were kinda reasonable about this unit, but the Romans turn into Italians apparently with the Alpini. I'm not saying create stuff like willy nilly. NEVER make up a unique unit that couldn't possibly exist with them. Don't give the Mongols Laser Dinosaur uniques.
Now with those taken into fact, you now have your unique unit and unique ability figured out. Here's the thing. Limit the unique ability to two nation powers. A notable exception is when you have "half-powers" such as Germany's -5s rally Cooldown. Don't forget, you'll need some form of nomenclature for your Unique Unit. So if you suggested the Aztecs being added, and your unique unit is the Jaguar. Since the Jaguars were inspired by the strength that an actual Jaguar possessed, try using adjectives like Elite or Heavy (those are kinda generic I do apologize.) Better yet, you can change the name all around, such as the Stradioti unique within the Companion Cavalry line.
Feel free to either suggest anything to add to this guide or give some feedback.
