Hi all,

I'm currently playing as Japanese and running this army:

2 Tanks
4 Artillery
20 Riflemen
2 Gatling Guns
2 Supply Trucks
37 Shock Infantry

Are Shock Infantry viable? I'm really becoming less and less interested in using Shock Infantry, despite them being my unique troop. But I find when I cut too many of them out for more tanks I have trouble dealing with walls. Shock Infantry sometimes do well, but it just seems there are too many counters to them and they often evaporate before accomplishing much. I do like them for the HP soak and the very quick wall tear down they can do when properly motivated, but their durability is problematic without a Protection tactic thrown on them. And Redoubts just seem overpowered vs them.

I find infantry to be pretty much useless. I'm using 3 tanks, 4 artillery, 55 riflemen, and 2 supply trucks. Seems to work relatively well against walls as long as the rally command is used effectively. I don't get why people waste oil on Gatling guns. They take up 4 spaces but 4 riflemen give more collective damage.

1 gatling gun can take out 50 troops at once. 4 archers can't do that. I only take 2 ggs. 3 biplanes are really good too, especially with the statue of liberty, as they can take out anything in one pass with the 3 of them.

Gatlings are there purely for the suppression, which is significant.

So any other opinions on shock infantry? I really want to use them, but they seem to fragile and seem to have too many counters. Should I abandon them? Does anyone use them with success?

30 motos, 9 engineers, 9 infantry. They come in handy for those hidden FCs. Then again me & dbukalski are probably the only ones still reppin' the moto army haha

My war army though I use tanks, artillery, supply trucks & the like. Never infantry, only rifles.

That's a shame to hear. It seems like no one thinks this unit is useful. Nexon needs to look at buffing it a bit (maybe a slight HP increase). I think their damage is quite good (especially German/Japanese), but they are simply too fragile.

Has someone already tested Marines&Medics strategies ? Like 4-6 supply truck, the rest divided in rifle/infantery.

Do you get a stimpack with it? :)

Not tested but I doubt that'll work. 2-3 mortar shells landing at the same time will decimate the army before the medics can heal them.

Actually I use the armor blessing and Protect tactic very often. Both combined that's a huge damage reduction. So I wondered that maybe it could work...

Any troop with armor blessing and protect is likely to work :). I'm always talking in terms of naked army, no blessings, no tactics, no mercernaries, etc...

PrincessWarrior used 121 korean riflemen and it worked because she used 5 tactics (protect, sabotage), 2 flampanzers, 2 lvl 30 generals, etc... But it doesn't mean anything. You'd probably get the same results swaping some riflemen for artillery.

I don't see it working. There are just too many counters to infantry with mortars and redoubts. I really don't understand why both were added; I feel 4 mortars is plenty and more towers would have been better for army balance than adding redoubts, that just do more of the same job mortars do.

Well I dont know about you but my goal is 4-5 stars using only 1 tactic per battle. I'm sorry HK but I don't think it makes sens to think in term of "naked" army. If blessing and tactics exist it's for a reason (balance). It's like thinking of a base layout without walls (naked). It does not occur to you have base withour walls, right? It's the same for blessing, tactic and mercenaries.

So what do you do after your 5th battle? You stop playing? :)

I use a tactic when there are more than 1 medal to play for. For the rest, I'm ok to have a semi suicidal mixed army that rebuilds in 5 minutes. I'm actually sniping with mixed army and then whatever they can get after that is extra. My goal is 3 stars, although I occasionally get 4 or 5 if I have air support.

I actually have 6 tactics :) which is enough for a 1hr session. After that I close the game and go do smtg in the real life.

And me, except I only use 5 or 6 engineers, 34 motos. It's the only consistent practically 100% guaranteed victory + looting army in the game.

Agreed. I found, for me at least, having more engineers always ready means less downtime waiting for the army to be built. 4/5 minutes is quick but 3/4 is even quicker ;) As for looting, well the quarter mil from DII is my loot usually. Go for the storehouses more so than markets.

Wow - whadaya know - someone else out there playing like me! Although to be honest, I usually play my two IA nations in approx 30mins combined - by overlapping the battles. While one army is building I start a battle on the other one. It's a compromise I and, more importantly, my wife can live with !!
