Advancing through the ages is starting to get really frustrating, saving up to 3mil is nearly impossible if you dont stay on the game til you reach that amount. Im literally getting attacked right away because of the high amount of resources, i dropped down in medals as well but that didnt even help, i was losing more then i was raiding.

Lol and my phone got screwed for having the game open lol, damaging and screwing the battery life in the phone if you're not using a ipad.
And what if you cant actually play for a couple of hours straight? time is limited to some people, and paying real money for the crowns to upgrade everything you need would just be dumb in my opinion since its just a app game and would also be expensive.

How are you other players able to save that much who cant stay on the game for hours?. Even if you have the game on with out closing it, the game will automaticly make you reload after 6-7 min.

depending which age ur in players are capped how much they can steal from u. medieval is 200k of each resource. gunpowder is 250k of each resource. so in theory if someone takes 250k of each resource but i get peace treaty for 5+ hours then i need to farm more than that in my play sessions. but thats at least an hour of gameplay to earn that much. so id need to play 2 hours gain 500k of each resource then log off and lose half. u do it that way and ur gonna take a year at least to get to enlightenment. in reality anyone thats going to reach enlightenment or space age will be playing for many hours at a time (or cheating or paying thousands of dollars) and using what u earn before logging is the way ull actually make progress. especially as walls cost 4 mil a piece in enlightenment. i dont know how much upgrades cost but gunpowder cannon costs 3.2 mil food to upgrade at blacksmith. so 5 mil or more for enlightenment wouldnt suprise me.

oh yeah it helps to have good defense. because with good defense u can beat players in ur age(once in blue moon someone of higher age but not really). if u beat players in ur age without them touching ur resources but they destroy ur town center then u get peace treaty for free. but to beat someone and protect ur resources requires really good wall design and level. and if ur upgrading ur defense structures then its even harder

Yeah, you need to encourage crappy players to attack you. So put the TC outside, and when you get to GP you can build a low level gold and food store and put them next to the TC. People attack those, and maybe get away with 20-50k - but you get 3-4hr PT. That's what you're after.

You can never do anything about a true Steamrolling Zerg (guy way above you with canons etc.) but that's just luck more than good management.

I'm saving for enlightenment now, and have had various 30-50k attacks, and only one Zirg @ 200/153k.

Not bad luck, and some good management.

I have my TC out in the open, i uploaded a picture of my base on WhatWhat's post, would be awesome if you have any advice.
But the main problem isnt getting the peace treaty the main problem is getting high leveled players not to attack me when they see 200-250k gold/food while im trying to save up for 3mil.
They will be able to loot over 200k everytime, and on averge we are able to loot 50-60k on 1 attack and then need time to rebuild troops, so im actually losing twice as much as im looting.

Mizzo your base looks good I guess my only advice is to drop medals till you don't get raided as much. There's definitely a lot less high lvl players below 800 medals.

ooo i love the idea of keeping a low level resource hub outside to bait an attack there. of course wouldnt work against good players like you but for the average fella....thanks for the idea!

Actually i did and went down to 500. Funny thing is that from 500 to 600 theres alot of high leveled enlightment aged players but at 600-799 theres alot of lower leveled players and got attacked less before the update, but its hard to find someone with over 50k in resources, its mostly players with 27k or 20k in gold or food. But with the new update and the new cavalry DPS my whole base is getting whiped even with medival players attacking me with cavalry.
and dont know if its smart or stupid since they cost abit to create and the amount of time it takes,
since this is some kind of a game changer, ill just upgrade all the defenses slowly and save up some crowns move up and in medals for bigger loots and sit infront of the phone for an hour til i get 3 mil each on gold/food. Would be great if they could increase the amount of resources you can have in the vault.

You have to play with different factors like previously mentioned, get a Town layout that benefits you in a matter that the attackers have difficulties to get everything, also this game is quite similar to Clash of Clans so what I could recommend is to try farming from your resource producers as much as you can while the Peace treaty is on and then when is about to end just farm for as long as you can so that between Peace and Farming using troops you can generate more than what you get stolen o.o but at the end you need to invest TIME so this works

Try to design your base with a "Bait" area. ( An area that looks weak ) This is where you WANT THEM TO ATTACK. It should be reasonably far away from your main resource areas, filled with traps, and have your lowest level resources closest to it. Almost 80% of the attacks on my base come in the same area. As long as I log in and reset the traps, my losses are minimal. Try to use the "Sensor Circles" of each of your defensive structures to ensure you have good coverage where you need it. Also, try NOT to bunch them up together, that's just ASKING for a sabotage or damage tactic to be used. It helps if your Base looks somewhat haphazard and carelessly placed. It lulls the attacker. If I spot a perfectly laid-out base with "a weak area", I know that's deliberate. Can you say " bait"? As far as saving resources, plan ahead- have target goals for the game session, and when you reach that God LD and food target for your upgrades, STOP PLAYING. SPEND EVERY DIME. Most players won't bother to raid you if there's no reward. Got a spare 200k? Upgrade that wall section. Upgrade that Tower or farm or caravan. It means that your defenses and military and income will grow slowly, but you'll become a tougher and tougher target.

One strategy that I'm using is to concentrate on 1 resource you're collecting and reduce the second. Usually, players do not like loosing food on battle, so you reduce your attractiveness if your food is low. This is when you collect gold and I actually even defend just 2-3 resource buildings, not 4-6. When I collect food - I defend mills and build walls. Reducing food is more tricky and requires looking for opponents with gold and less food. Also, a funny thing is when I am collecting gold I go to full battles and usually loose whole army on big wins. When I collect food, I also drop medals, raid farms and farm bases and other boring stuff ))) so I have many quick battles. I am at early GP and till 1.5m of one resource it works pretty well.

Great thread! Lots of useful tips :p.

Now that I have my castle, my base needs some reshaping and I'll keep serenity's advice in mind.

I usually got pretty angry about loosing 100k of one resource per night when I just had still 3-4 raids to reach what I needed for the upgrade (sometimes I didn't have enough time or was too tired). But then I put my TC outside and got less robbed (of course there's the occasional raper, but we sadly gotta get used to it). I also started to spend my resources more and always tried to reach some goals for each session or day.

I got that going for me, but I'm still not happy with the game math, especially the available loot. I remember I got really frustrated and almost stopped playing (good thing I bought the starter pack so I decided to play a little bit more to make my money worth) before I decided to make a better strategy. But still, I think that BHG could loose a high amount of noob players right in the beginning (mostly classical agers, when things start to get expensive af) when they see they're constantly robbed and can't gather much resources until they get the feeling of the game. I once came across a player a little bit weaker than me with 150k food available and I decided to attack him and got all 150k and then thought that he might have been saving for the castle or some other upgrade and I felt sorry for him bc 150k is a lot of raiding. So I'm not complaining just for me, other people also have it hard.

I wouldn't actually mind if they downgraded the loot cap a little bit more. First because in all my 3 months of playing I never came across more than 3 capped raids. So, I would still be very happy with a 100k or even a 80k raid (sad, isn't it?). And secondly because in the future, I fear I will too be needing to accumulate resources since I won't be able to raise everything for an upgrade in just one day or in a couple of hours.

I do know that with a little bit of strategy and thinking and planning you could overcome this problem a little bit, but I still recommend BHG to try to overcome or at least work around it a little bit. Just to be shure, you know?

If they lower the loot cap you will never be able to save for the enlightenment upgrades.
