Forget it. That was their strategy all along. Troop chests will never come back.

They got us hooked onto troop chests and the power of using extra troops in war/battles. (Supply is high, therefore demand is low, we dont think twice about using it because we know we will get troop chests each week).

Then they slowly started taking them away, they were harder to acquire and replenish, making us realise the true value of those extra troops but enough to still give us a taste of that sweet power (They reduce supply so demand becomes higher)

Then they changed the environment. Defenses got buffed, making the need to use extra troops less about power but more of an essential if you wanted to 5 star/fast times to win war.

From a business point of view, Nexons goal is to make revenue. They want money, thats basically the whole point of a business. So now IAP ads for troop card increase (we see alot more offers for extra troop card$), MP no longer gives troop chest, we are given pathetic offers from MP)

Now, with all that in mind, step back and take a look at the bigger picture.
- Demand is peaking
- Supply is cut off
- Ruby currency has barely any value now
- Defenses got buffed
- Ads to purchase troops cards with real money increases

See the formula?

Step 1- Give the players power, in-game currency to buy the power, high supply of that power.

Step 2 - Make the players realise the value by increasing demand, reducing the supply.

Step 3 - Make that extra troop card power even more valuable by buffing defenses and taking away the supply.

step 4 - bring back supply, by focusing on real money purchases. The old currency (rubies) loses majority of its value

Step 5 - Profit.
Step 6 - laugh.
Step 7 - More profits.
Step 8 - Laugh even harder.
