Hey guys,

Anybody know if mortar troops have splash damage?
In all situations? Or only in attack? Or defense?

Deciding which artefacts to keep, which to trash???
Somehow I've rolled a pile of mortar pluses... but they're not a troop type I've used much before...

Thanks all

Mortar infantry troops deal splash damage in all situations but from what I have noticed they only deal some percentage of their DPS in splash damage affecting nearby walls, defenders, buildings.

If you don't use mortar infantry troops then there is no need to keep artifacts which boost mortar infantry troops. You can enable only those artifacts which boost the main and important troops in your attack composition.

Thanks Gears, So mortars do deal splash damage but at less than 100%? I guess that makes sense. I was wondering why they seemed so weak. The stats look good on paper. But it's easy for pretty much any type of grouped defending units to rush em. MGs or Bazookas seem to work out much stronger than mortars, in attack or defense.

Lol, yeah I know, why would I use an artefact that benefits mortars, if I usually don't use mortars? It's a good question. Thing is, 3 or 4 other lines on the artefact are exactly what I need. Fighters, heavy tanks, heavy infantry, etc. Mortars are an extra. And I've got two artefacts that are similar, so I wanted to figure out if mortars are worth developing in my attacks. But from the weak splash damage, it sounds like the answer is no...

Mortars are great if you like troops that shoot lazy arcs of projectiles that fall on empty spaces, after your regular troops like archers or artillery have already destroyed the building that was just there. :D

Yes and Machine guns after the recently added feature to shoot over walls have made them a more viable troop.

If the other 3/4 rows in that artifact provide a good bonus to troops you use then that artifact IMO is worth activating in the Museum. Just ignore the extra & don't level up the mortar infantry troop row in that artifact.

:)
