It may sound obvious to experienced people, but hopefully casuals go to this forum too.
If you're consistently losing your defenders with two hours training time worth (still an hour with the training blessing), then think about what you're training, whether to use tactics, and whether you're sure you'll keep your units. Sure you can have 6 bombards and 4 supply troops, rest are archers/horsies and steamroll to the heart of one's base...but if you can't take out the towers on the opposite side, it's not worth the raid entirely. You lose two hours worth of time with just 5 ballistas/supply troops and 5 archers and what'll you get? 3 medals and roughly 200k+ resources. You can make triple that in less time by proper raid choices and proper armies.
In otherwords, have priorities. If resources is your priority and you have an idea that you can't clear the base, you're inefficiently wasting your time by using a 1h training time raid to try.
Use skirmishers rather than WW-tier. Again, this is if your troops aren't super tanks leveled to the brim and you don't really have a battle tactic; you're just speed-dropping and hoping you win.
EDIT: Also, abuse Shinobi if you've got the Dojo. I'm not kidding.
