has anyone else noticed that planning day isn’t really 24 hours?
I start wars around 9 pm eastern standard time. Attack day starts at around 8 pm eastern standard time. Where does that hour go? I thought it was supposed to be 24 hours for each. CS said I was wrong and that War lasted exactly 48 hours but I don’t start wars tell 9pm so how could it start at 8 pm and be 48 hours

they changed it to 23 so that we can have war at the same time of day everytime. or else it will keep shifting back little by little

Ive seen that happen but only recently. Only thing I can attribute it to is daylight savings time isnt being properly accounted for when converting to UTC.

It’s funny that I get better answers from here then CS. Not surprised at all though

This is very interesting. What it exposes is that BHG knew war search times were ridiculously long and instead of fixing it they blame it on "creep time". 24 hours doesnt cause creep...long search times do.

It took a full version cycle for them to actually "fix" the problem by removing 35v35 & 45v45 pools....that in turn has only dramatically increased sandbaggers in 25v25 & 30v30.

So really war issues havent been solved. Yes searches are now instant but wouldnt 23hr plan day cause a backwards creep in war start time?

Since that patch where it was shortened to 23, we have also seen 23:30, 24, and back down to 23 at different times. They seem to have been experimenting for a while.

As far as the creep - if you want your wars to always start at the same time of day, and you war back to back, then a combination of delays getting them started and search delays (even very short ones) would gradually push your times back before. Now those delays have to add up to more than an hour before they make a difference.

The only thing shortening planning day helps is back to back wars. Now I have to start wars at 10 pm (when I have to get ready for work) for them to end a 9 pm which works best for my alliance cause we are mainly from Canada on a bunch of different time zones with a good chunk of us working nights. It’s not that big of a deal as I can delay getting ready but the biggest piss off is that CS said I was wrong when they could have just sent me the patch notes

At the very least there should be a Start War option after 12 hours if it's agreed to by both leaders. It would be up to them to get their alliance on the same page before doing so.

it would not be hard to have more control over planning day...

say a checkbox "start war!" on the ww screen that only the leader could check.
if both teams check it (at any time during planning day), it starts.

the same UI could be "shorten to 4/12 hours" or whatever.

i think they won't do it for fear of WW teams "grinding" glory ... but i don't care; it would be more fun.

really ... they should do this.

war each 24h with 1 attack per player = dead sandbagging. Nobody even cares about TC spawning troops anymore
