Question about garrison troops

Because I generally don't use any heavy infantry when attacking, I am leaning toward not bothering to spend a few million food on upgrading them any further within my armory. My question, however, pertains to the possible negative impact that could have on my base when defending.

If, for example, my armory has only researched/upgraded a particular troop up to say Gunpowder Age but I upgrade my garrisons to Industrial, will IA troops still come out as stated in the info/upgrade box? Also, same question as far as stable, command post and ambush traps go. Thanks!

Your town/forest defenders will be the equavilent of your highest level garrison or stable.

Garrisons, stables, command post & traps only produce troops commensurate with their current levels.

yes, your garrison, stables will produce troop as in the info, not depend on research on armory.

Yap. Defending and attacking troops are separate. Upgrading 1 will not affect the other. You have to do different upgrades for each.

I recommend at least getting max EA garrisons and troop upgrade, as they get a range increase. Beyond that, it's not a high priority
