So I've been around the forums and heard a lot about grinding. And as far as I know that's what you do in MMORPGs not RTS mobile games. Maybe it's different... So I what constitutes grinding persay? Like to the point to where you spend hours on this game... Something so Far I haven't done. Usually I'll log on and there's at maximum 15 minutes worth of things to do: change layout if I got a new defense, if not; hunt until it takes forever for an animal to spawn, collect farms/caravans/mines/etc, raid once or twice, replenish troops, then upgrade/build and that's it. So again the original question: what constitutes "grinding" in this game?

More or less means "sit in front of the game waiting for the troops to be ready for the next battle" a.k.a. MMORPG's Grinding-in-slowmo. :p

To be honest, I really hate how they design mobile games like these to waste people's time (or money). I still prefer the good old days of buying a game and play to the heart's content. Spend hours to level up characters - the faster the better.

When I first got onto this kind of mobile games... it was the first time I hear people say "Don't level up so fast, upgrade everything first." That's when everything changed.

But no one in the industry seems to have the guts to change the model because it looks like a tried-and-tested model to milk money. A game like this cost so much lesser to produce than a AAA game on consoles but can earn back many times more.

been playing since game release. spent $30. grind many hours a day. hardly ever have to stop because army needs repaired. farmed 60mil gold(not sure how that compares to others) lvl57 2 weeks probably to get into enlightenment. easily 2 months to max out. probably longer. do at least 5 hours of pure raiding a day. if u only log in for short bit ull never get past classical age because people will farm u faster harder than u farm others

Freemium

I started thinking that DomiNations pricing strategy might limit its great potential. Pay2Win.

Is there any hope?
Too early to say now. This kind of freemium model seems to be the current hype. Every business is jumping in.
I'm still waiting to see which company has the guts to try a different model i.e. bring back those good old days of gaming where people really PLAY and not WAIT, where people really spend time to level up their characters/base and not hold back, where most of the time, playing is not just pressing the ‘next’ button.

completely agree. I think this kind of model eventually completely turns people off to these type of games
