Would it be a noob move to change from French to Romans? I do like using a ton of Heavy Infantry when I raid, and I always find tons of them getting killed off. Wondering if the health buff is going to make a meaningful reduction to casualties.

In what Age are you playing? If you have planes, you can reduce the casualties by attacking mortars.

Or just spread all the infantry in every corners so the mortars will always change target to the nearest opponent. I don't think the health buff is a game changer.

Using Heavy Infantry to raid weaker bases is good, but can't stand to Domination Victories. The Romans may yield a larger army though, something also to consider. Finally, think if you'd be ok to abandon French train troop times. When it comes to Factory troops and Ranged Siege it's getting much longer.

The question to consider would be: how long will I be able to raid using only infantry?

The answer would also depend on what your priorities are: would you consider playing as a particular nation for the ability to raid better using one troop type of that nation?
