I would love to just do proper attacks and not raids all the time, but with a 15 minute wait for a lost cannon, or 14 for a healing cart (with stupid AI for both at times), there is just no way to continuously raid with them. Failing to get every defensive building means an hour wait to rebuild, and even losing a cannon or two means 15 minutes minimum. Plus tactics, if I need any to prevent some troops from dying, take ~45 minutes each.
With raiders, I can do 5+ battles in a row, no tactics, for about the same loot per battle that I can with a full wipe on my war troop mix. And then rebuild and do it again in 20 minutes. That is often targeting abandoned bases (with full and undefended farms, roads and sometimes even oil wells), but active ones are fine too if convenient.
And as others have said - if you want a peace treaty, happy to provide one if you leave your TC exposed.
A few potential fixes I can see, all seem unlikely:
Make league bonuses meaningful, and have them be a function of the stars achieved. For instance, in silver league, make it 5,000 per star, doubled if you get 5 stars - so up to 50,000 for a five star victory. Then double that in gold, quadruple in kingdom, etc. Suddenly, leagues are meaningful again and raids are less common. And people have a reason to go for five stars outside of war. This could also include some sort of significant reduction for fighting people more then 30 levels below you, or a bonus for going that far above.
Reduce the cost of upgrades, so I don't need to save 5+million 2-300k at a time. I can't do that in a reasonable time frame without raids - not enough from full battles, and waiting for farms and caravans to provide it is a joke. It is less fun and more of a grind at times to keep enough resources to keep things moving, but at least the raids are quick.
Shorten the training times and reduce costs for the heavier units. If I could rebuild my full war style army in 20 minutes including 2 or more tactics, I would be much more inclined to attack that way. When protect was at 25% of its build time last weekend, I did that and used 1-2 per battle to improve my survival rates.
Those might eat away at Nexon's "sell you crowns" revenue stream - but this is a year+ old game, and player retention becomes a concern.
