Save the merc campaign

We all pay our fair share of cider and diamonds to get the best mercenarys to fight along side our armies, but they all seem to run off into the forest after battle, even successful ones. Even if all other troops make it home safely, those damn mercs all seem to run off the recreate the jungle book in the forest.

My point is why can't surviving mercs and alliance troops return to our base if they do not die in battle?

Logically, I can understand mercs not returning. They did their work for the pay you gave them and off they went. Alliance troops on the other hand, I agree with. They should stick around.
