Seeking some advice from those of you at IA and above about tanks

Hi all, I'm a new Industrial - level 142 currently, working on upgrading the armory. I'm wondering how you all introduced tanks into your army, since I've been using 50 shooters / 3 healers / 6 cannons for quite a while now. I occasionally used saboteurs (which were mainly useless, honestly) and cuirassiers, but I didn't get much out of that versus just sticking with my bread-and-butter 50/3/6. My army is maxed EA, and I'm going to be doing the barracks as soon as I can.

I do plan to build the airstrip as soon as my oil refinery finishes upgrading - I've popped a helicopter building to defend my maxed 50k oil so that I can easily reach 70k. Or should I wait for the Industrial Rush in the event to build an airstrip? Maybe I could do my fort?

Anyway, my main question here is, playing Brits, how might I put tanks into my army? I've used cuirassiers to little effect - they soak up mortar damage only when they are away from my army, but then they often run into ballista/cannon towers and get shredded. Tanks have range, health, and more damage, but how can I maximise the potential I get from them? Should I mainly sabotage cannon towers instead of mortars?

(P.S. Since it'll be about two weeks before I even get to use tanks, if you used cuirassiers in your army when at EA and below, and they were successful, what exactly did you do?)

Thanks all.

Well, here's the general approach I used (and still use).

In MP I direct my army out of harm with rallies and group them so as to make tanks take the brunt of the damage while main army is not that far away and can safely destroy those threats.

A huge part and excellent help in this game are planes, a game changer actually. Planes can suppress and destroy buildings, which can save your troops if they don't do something as intended.
Take the airstrip upgrade now and do the level 2 upgrade on a discount (2 levels to be done in IA).

Actually, do both industrial airstrip levels on sale. Each age gets two weeks, so very possible.

I'm sitting on 50k oil right now, with an upgrading refinery, and 20k oil is honestly not that much if I'm diligent with a training blessing and keep my medals low. What would I spend my oil on before the discount? I also wanted to get the fort upgrade done, or a bunker, which would be 50k and 55k even with a discount.

"Too many resources, WAY too much time", except oil, I guess.

What he said. Once l got planes l never needed tanks. (I'm British)
If you want to be British then accept the tanks as they are, powerful enough to draw fire but they will die.
If you want tanks to survive you need to change to French or Greek.
