Status of chat repair

Monday, June 11th, 2018 - We have added an new fix to chat to prevent old messages from bubbling up to the top of the thread. While it is far from a flawless system, chat should now be back to the same level of functionality now on the new system. We will continue to monitor this closely for any lingering bugs and issues.

Earlier in May we rolled out a new chat backend system in Dominations in the hopes of fixing a number of long standing Alliance chat bugs and provide greater stability and performance in chat.

Unfortunately, as players reported--and we see in our errors logs--the update came with its own set of bugs and issues. Since the roll out, we’ve been debugging errors and deploying fixes as quickly as possible, and we know we still have more to do to get Alliance chat and all the supported chat features back into a reliable, steady state. Here’s what we’re working on now:

• Some player names displaying incorrectly
• Unable to donate troops
• incorrect donation cap or able to see negative numbers for troop donations

In order to create better transparency and let you know where we’re at with fixes, we will update this thread going forward with any chat changes. We know that requesting donations and communicating with Alliance members during this time has been more difficult than usual, and we thank you for your patience as we take the necessary time to ensure making the right fixes for Alliance chat.

On a more more personal note, I'd like to thank Hobbit Zombies, Illuminaughty, and RABBITT EMPIRE for allowing me to pop in and out of their Alliances over the past week as we look at new fixes.

In non-chat related news, the newest DomiNations update is available! The ‘Treasures of the World’ update contains the Museum and a number of bug fixes and improvements! (You can read more about it here.) Updating DomiNations will not interfere with (or fix) Alliance chat.

Chat repair is still an ongoing effort.
We have done a few things in our test environments, but we are trying to ensure we don't add further chat issues with the repair. We've gone through a few iterations, but haven't had anything to announce about a fix yet.

@TS given it’s been so long and a fix isn’t close to being in sight why not rewrite chat completely and add value?

General chat server wide would be great and really liven up things for the community. Ability to link artifacts in chat would be great.

Inter alliance war chat would be great as well.

I’m not suggesting anything other games don’t have as standard so surely couldn’t be too hard?

Our alliance hasn’t had the severe chat problems as others, however, the old challenges popping to the top recently is pretty irritating.

Private messages and a rudimentary built-in translator would be awesome too while we're asking. An ability to type more than 3 sentences in in-box messages would be great too. Separate friendly challenges from the main chat as well. That's what kills me the most about this, in-game chat is as basic and cumbersome as can be yet they've managed to break it for over a month regardless

You can actually filter the posts done by anyone by clicking on his name it will give you all the post history by the user that's how you don't have to jump to the last page

If my computer plays up I just roll it back to last good configuration so why cant you just roll back to when it was good

Uh chat status: Still broken and getting worse. I know some player had it happen but now I'm seeing a constant flurry of donation requests that say 0/0. I don't normally ask for troop donations because I forget but the last several times it has taken troops away from me. I can see people donate 3 field howis to me and I look in tc and see them there. When I go raid and check back, they are gone and that's not from me using them. They just vanished.

Anyways I made a comment on post of someone saying that he couldn't view any replays, why that thread was deleted, Tin? Because that is also the current issue, and mine is I couldn't share Attack/Defense log while chat is being broken. Temporarily though, yet still happens, currently.
Hope it's still being under repaired, even at weekends.

"Chat seems to be failing in different ways for different people.

What we are seeing is:

(a) Friendly challenges are broken in three ways. First, if you attack a friendly challenge, the game never shows you results. Instead, it looks as though the base was never attacked (by you) so you can attack the same friendly challenge over and over. Second, all of the friendly challenges are moved to the top of the chat window over and over. Thus, if the alliance is trying to do war chat, it is constantly pushed way down by friendly challenges that are 20 hours old. Third, the friendly challenge windows appear and disappear as a group, So if player X issued three friendly challenges in a 10 hour period, all three (and all the ohters) will disappear from chat together, then reappear together at the top of the chat

(b) Troop requests usually accept troops, but they don’t show that troops have been donated. Thus if I ask for troops (30) and people give me 29 troops, my request shows as empty. A person who has donated 6 units to that set can often donate a 7th before the software remembers that they have donated 6 already, and then later donate an 8th, etc. Troop requests also move en masse just above the friendly challenges. Non-request, non-donation messages are moved way down, below these. New players don’t understand what’s going on and it is impossible to chat with them "

Agreed! I'm seeing all the same exact stuff in my alliance, and everybody is complaining about it.

The "ghosting" issue was worst of all, but we worked out how to overcome that using the "leave alliance, join another alliance, leave alliance, restart device/app, rejoin target alliance" procedure. That has restored several of our ghosted member accounts.

I would truly love to see the chat fixed once and for all - forget any improvements, just having it work properly would be awesome!

It's completely brolbr now game is not able to connect for more than a few seconds chat is blank and donation can't be given or recivrec break it back to prwvprev broken , you will never fix this game it is not not even playable
