Strategies of War! v5.3 - "The Trolls"

I've recently read the latest update to Dominations and I am appalled by the developers decision to decrease the damage of Dynamite to storage buildings. Please read this and follow along and try to have a better understanding of what this update actually does.

Trolls. Troll exist. Trolls are everywhere in Dominations. Trolls are good two things and two things only. Stealing and Protecting their stolen goods. Trolls are good at nothing else. A trolls base has the resource buildings wrapped around the highest level walls with defensive buildings on the outskirts of their resource buildings. A trolls base does not generate any resources. A trolls base does not have upgraded roads and the roads are not connected to the Town Center. A trolls base does not have upgraded Farms. A Trolls main focus is to steal and protect their stolen goods. This is a good strategy, if you're a Troll. But for the community in general, this is terrible.

Let me put it this way, imagine if there were 4 players total in Dominations. Now imagine if 3 of these players were trolls and 1 of these players was anything else but a Troll. The total income Dominations would be generating would be very poor, and the only way the players in Dominations would prosper is buy spending money for gold and food. See, Troll 1, 2, and 3 are generating 10,000 food and gold per hour. Now Player 4 is generating 100,000 food and gold per hour. Player 4's base is beautiful. It's truly a work of art. See, if you add all these together, the total income of Dominations is 130,000. Thanks Trolls! For the extra 30,000 for the rest of the community to work with! But we can't thank them! Because Troll 1, 2, and 3 are stealing 99% of the resources and hiding them in their caves! You know, the caves that are wrapped around high level walls and defensive buildings!

Player 4 has had enough of these Trolls! It's time to put them in their place! Player 4 is going to blow the living hell out of these Trolls! Player 4 designs an effective strategy to show the Trolls that Trolling is useless! Player 4 deploys Dynamite on the Trolls cave! OH NO! BUT WAIT! After Player 4 deploys the Dynamite on the Trolls caves, Player 4 notices that the Dynamite are useless! Someone must have emptied out 85% of the T.N.T. inside the Dynamite! These Dynamite served no use on this strategy! It was like attacking a town with 4th of July firecrackers!

Long story short, the developers gave people 85% more reason to Troll and 85% more reason for players to spend money on food and gold, rather than play the game for what it is.

So basically, if you have any strategies other than using Dynamite on the Trolls bases, please share them. Thanks!

Use your dynamite on mortars, and generally speaking, get better at attacking and defending.
This was never meant to be an idle town building game where you tend to your crops in all peacefulness. (plenty of apps for that)
This is war !!

In my opinion, Trolls were those players, who used demo on rss buildings. Thanks to this update, now it is useless to use demo for getting my oil without fight :)

so now you have to fight for it!
come, and get it if you can :)

Trolls ARE the players who use demolition tactics on oil refineries, etc., and you should generally be able to beat any base at least up to your age, considering that your army is maxed.

I love it when bases have all the resource buildings protected and the defensive buildings on the outside. 5 star victory, here I come!

wow, this wins for most clueless post ever and that is not an easy achievement! The whole point of this game is to loot and protect your stolen rss...if you want a resource gathering game there are plenty out there, like gardenscapes or whatever...in the meantime, nearly all players are very happy that nexon nerfed the demo tactic so that time spent on base design is not wasted....

We all loot, what else do we nurture our army for if we want a farmville game? And we love to see our carefully crafted base defending (gaining a few crowns in the process).

In stark contrast to what you claim, in fact it was the 'demolition stealing oil' trolling at its finest.

By the way, of course farms, roads, wells and caravans generate resources, but don't forget that there are additional awards that generate resources too. This is a careful balance of the game, resource generators have to be in balance with resource drains. (what i can see is that the latest food for walls has resulted in a shortage of food). If people can't get sufficient rss via loots, they will improve farms etc.

You don't need dynamite for those bases, just a bunch of engineers and bikes and you get any ressource you want.

Agreed, demos are now best for mortars or air defences. Take out mortars so your troops can get to the protected resources or take out the air defences so your planes can get to the mortars so your troops can get to the protected resources.
Planes need all the help they can get with the recent nerf.

OP does have a good point. He calls the wrong players trolls (you are no troll if all you do is play efficiently), but it's true that lots of high level players don't increase their farms / caravans / roads and thus don't contribute to the total resource generation of the game. This, however, is because the personal benefit to upgrading them is so small. Who really wants to send 16 workers away for a week, just to get +200 food per hour on half their farms?

Doing all global upgrades to farms and caravans with 16 workers would take 60 days. 60 days! That's 2 months of upgrading nothing but resource production, and then you've not even done the road or oil wells yet. It's ridiculous, almost like BHG is actively trying to discourage people from upgrading them.

In the end, I'm not sure this problem can be fixed. If the devs increase the production rates to the point where they are worth upgrading even for those who want to be efficient, it might imbalance the overall resource availability.

Just cap the farms and caravans upgrades at say 1 or 2 days and I'm sure people will be maxing them.

Entirely agree. The production rate improvement for each upgrade should be proportional to its cost.<sarcasm>Or maybe BHG is being realistic and saving the huge increase in productivity brought about by mechanization in the middle of the 20th century for the Industrial, or at latest, Global age</sarcasm>
