The inherent design issue of new expedition

I think we have a lot of issues with this game, for example, the constant crashing issue, which is attributed to networking and unstable servers, we call this infrastructure issue, which is normally caused by lack of funds, you can’t afford to upgrade. Then we have this AI issue, something fundamentally is wrong with how the algorithm was done in coding, typically you have this one when you hired some summer interns to do most of the work. Both can have excuses, and both could take a while to fix, if ever.

Then we come to this new expedition feature, to me, the reward after you spending your precious 3-5 workers away for 4-5 days is just nonsense. Who in their right mind to waste so much effort for so little return? This is obviously a design issue. Whoever designed this, in this form, apparently are totally disconnected from reality or the fan base. Given current worker shortage problem, I would expect return to be much bigger in order for this feature to make sense. And this issue can be fixed instantly. I hope they can do something here, otherwise what’s the point? (besides hope player to spend hundreds of crowns to speed up the process perpetually, cuz this is a never ending task.)

Well said, they r so out of touch with what's important they make bigger messes. The expeditions r cool, but how many ppl actually asked for this feature? The turnover rate for new players is at an all time low, not like u can blame them when u can't sustain a stable connection...that's directed at u Nexon.

I had an epiphany on this in another thread.
I really need something for 2 workers to do between mine/tree cool downs but it just feels too big of a waste leaving them completely idle. My dream was expeditions would solve this problem but as currently implemented they are an even bigger waste and I don't see anyone but the most elite and most casual players using the dock regularly.

I would love to see expeditions broken down and set to use the event interface for progress. It could still take the same total worker hours to complete but do it in chunks where, assuming the level of your docks are fully upgraded, the time expenditure of each expeditions is equivalent to the mine/tree cool down of each age. You could award partial rewards as you complete so it feels like you're making progress and reset them every week or only on completion.

Totally agree!
In Boom Beach we have submarine which is more or less equivalent of expeditions in domi. No matter what level player u r, u can always choose from 5 different spots with about 7 levels of rewards. The bigger the reward the longer it takes. But even when u r top level player u can always choose to send your submarine for few hours or few days.

But here in Dominations I really regret that I upgraded my docks to level 7 because all expeditions take 4-5 days with 4-5 workers - not worth it. I'd rather have dock lvl 1 and send my 2 workers for 12 hours and get some low level rewards which overall would be much, much better than having docks at level 7!!!

They should give us more choices with expeditions - like 5-7 to choose from and with different options, from few hours (1-2 workers) to few days (4-5 workers) and rewards should represent the time and workers spend on those expeditions!

I don't need ONE !!! stupid national trade good for 5 days my 5 workers are idlle !!!! Within those 5 days I can raid all national trade goods I want !!!


But hey it's Nexon. We more likely to see new feature that no one is asking for than fixing this one ;) LOL :( :confused:

Oh, and for future generations:
DO NOT UPGRADE YOUR DOCKS – NEVER EVER !!!
IT IS MUCH BETTER TO HAVE DOCKS ON LEVEL 1 !!!
TRUST THE OLD PLAYERS!!!

For real, I have a level 2 dock and I already regret it. My only question right now is if it's worth it to upgrade to 4 for the general bonus or just accept that I f'd up and leave it at 2.

Rewards for using general during expeditions are really poor - like 20k food or 1-3 trade goods. I haven't got anything worth using it yet :( Maybe I'm just unlucky :(

yeah, wish I could un-upgrade my dock. lvl4 is about the max you want it to be. Any more than that and it's just not worth it.

Just to explain:
-Baltimore - 6 workers for 5 days !!! to get army with 1 artillery and 3 engineers - best combo ever !!!! and 1x crop blessing, which is useless because everyone in EA, IA and GA sitting on tons on food and have nothing to do with it.

-The best one is Rangoon - 4 workers for 3 days to get 2 diamonds and 3 trade good shipments - anyone can raid those in few minutes to MAX ONE HOUR !!!

I THOUGHT EXPEDITIONS WOULD BE FUN BUT THIS IS F..KING JOKE !!!

REWARDS ARE FINE BUT FOR 2 workers and 12 hours expedition, not 6 workers and 6 days !!!

I REALLY HOPE JOSH U CAN FIX IT

The citizen requirement and expedition duration are stupid right now. They shouldn't scale with dock level at all imo. A much better way to do it would have been:

small reward: 2 citizens, 6 hours
medium reward: 3 citizens, 12 hours
large reward, 4 citizens, 1 day

and keep to this scheme for every age / dock level. I can't believe anyone thought that an expedition that requires you to send 6 workers away for 5 days was going to be used by players.
