I’m going to formally concede my prior criticism (read: whining) of this event. It’s actually pretty good, apart from the SA-not-being-able-to-attack-CWA, which doesn’t affect me, so it’s all good.

The rewards are really good, the event pass is worth it if you consider how much it would take to buy the rest of the stuff, and the goal. The goal is incredible. I could gain XP by relentlessly campaigning before, but that was a fraction of my XP compared to the artefact grinding, which was frankly a mindless way of winning the event. King Crimson, you’re pretty much right in that people are hard to make happy, but I do have to disagree with you with regards to higher-age players having advantage. Despite that, though, I think the solution BHG currently has in place is as good as anything I could come up with. I can win the group leaderboard and still get good loot. All good, eh?

I’m excited to have an event where stars and destruction are the sole, or at least most prominent, metrics used. That’s something that ANYONE can do, and it really fits the theme, too. Good rewards, high but worth it price for the event pass, good requirements... I like this, to some extent. Just wish you SA players had it easier!

I already face difficulty in finding bases to attack. All I see is 270++ beasts with high level generals and blessings active. I hit 20 times NEXT button to find ONE base to attack....

Yes, the team was able to correct the PvP matchmaking pools so Space Age bases can find Atomic Age ones again.

It’s fair because there are still free rewards, and good ones at that. You don’t HAVE to participate in the leaderboard, but you still can and it’s definitely possible for a F2P player to get something, even if you realistically can’t finish first.

TinSoldier, GPA player here who no longer sees their group leaderboard, only global. Hope you guys aren’t removing the Rosetta Stone reward — care to elaborate? Just a glitch?

I could care less about the event and more about general mp strategies. That was the crux of my comment..
Still, l hope you enjoy the event. :D

CS confirmed that there will be NO Group Leaderboards, therefore how does a Gunpowder Age compete against a Space Age base. Seriously, this event is a complete wank and over for me

What do you guys think about the leaderboard? Top guy has now over 32k XP. How is it possible? Supposing that it was done in a legitimate way.

If this is true, then they’ve screwed up what was to be a good event. I literally cannot compete with people who have so many advantages over me. Hell, even the age above me has Training Blessings. TinSoldier, this should be reversed & group leaderboards w/the Rosetta Stone should be brought back. This is mindless and stupid.

I honestly feel there are bots running the top 100. Weird how if I stop playing for an hour I drop approx. 20 spots, religiously. Do the math on how many attacks per hour it would take to keep it up. Always 5 star, no troop loss. Seems sketchy to me.

To put everything a bit into perspective, this whole event ladder idea came from clash of clans they already had that for a few months. Not saying its a bad event btw ;)

This new leaderboard is a joke. Somebody is now 63k and one hour ago the winner was 32k. Impossible points. Even 32 k is impossible, unless a group of 4 and playing on the one account, because it requires non stop battles since the event began.

I have no problem at all with receiving additional Goals or opportunites to earn XP for buying the Event Pass. In virtually every single event I have ever competed in, I had to pay some sort of entry fee. When I ran the Chicago Marathon, I had to pay an entry fee to compete. When I run 5k’s or compete in cycling events, I have to pay an event fee. I’m an Artist, and every single juried competition I have ever entered, guess what? I had to pay an entry fee. I have an opening hosted by a Museum this Friday evening, it was a regional juried competition, and yes, I had to pay an entry fee just to be juried, with the possibility of rejection. This is normal practice in the real world.

You have a choice, you can either buy the Event Pass or not…it’s up to you. All of you complaining should be grateful that you are allowed to compete in an Event for free.

Why should those buying an Event Pass receive the benefit of earning additional XP? Because they paid to support the Event and push the game forward. So in my humble opinion, the Event bonus XP is an equalizer that makes the Event more fair. Folks paying most likely have a job and can’t grind 24/7.

I’ve asked this question in the past on this forum. How much do you spend going to the movies? This game has great entertainment value so I don’t mind spending some of my monthly entertainment budget on an Event Pass.

Be grateful that you are being allowed to compete and win prizes for free.

Two separate issues: Awesomeness and fairness. You make a very compelling argument that the concept of the event pass is fair.
But the pass is only one facet of the new event system. IMHO these new events are anything but awesome.

I've purchased crowns and passes at the dock, so I'm not opposed to spending on this game at all. I've done so when it suited the flow of my game, taking advantage of upgrade discounts as my resources ebbed and flowed, and purchasing what fit my need (a few crowns/speed ups/troops or a bunch). Now it looks like upgrade discounts are yoked to paying for a pass whether I want to play or not. Worse, it's one price fits all. I'm actually less inclined to purchase anything now, because I can't quite figure out whether events or the dock will be the better investment.

The event goals are also set ridiculously high. I play fairly regularly, and in the WWII event I didn't crack the top 50k (90k global). Granted I wasn't as active in that event because all my townspeople were busy building and researching stuff, and I was busy IRL building and researching stuff. But even if I'd played at my regular level, I doubt I would have cracked top 25k/50k. It seems that to be competitive and earn decent prizes in this new system, you have to either be laid up in a hospital bed with oodles of time on your hands, hacking the system, or paying to play.

Paying, in principle, is fair. The events are not awesome.

Leaderboard looks fishy to me. #1 has over 63k xp. I did some calculations and with event pass I average about 65 xp from atomic age bases. That would require close to 1000 attacks to gain 63k like #1, in 2 days. With avg time to 5* at about 1:15, that’s close to 12h a day of non-stop playing, and you need to drop medals in between attacks too. Either he’s doing lots of cocaine or meth and doesn’t sleep, or just good ole hacking.
TinSoldier perhaps top of the leaderboard needs a closer look.

No idea how lower-age players are even supposed to compete. There is absolutely no way I’m going to make it past, like, 700, and that’s with WAY more activity than some AA+ players. They turned this event’s leaderboards from pretty good to a joke. There’s really no reason there shouldn’t be group leaderboards. How is someone GPA supposed to compete with higher-age players for even relatively “low” rankings? This is insane. I was really looking forward to winning the Rosetta Stone, now I get absolutely nothing from the leaderboards apart from one boring army.

Listen, the rewards are still good, the ones that you get through achievement medals, but group leaderboards NEED to be reinstated. TinSoldier BHG_Muet

Something else is off about leaderboard. I’ve noticed that I’m always 100 xp behind player in front of me. I do 2 attacks, move up one spot, and next is again 100 xp ahead. It’s almost like leaderboard is filled with bots, there’s no randomness at all.

in my alliance there are 2 people that have more than 33000 points and are top 10. I assure you that they do nothing else other than attacking bases all day from the moment the event started.
I have no idea about the guy with the 63000 points. Seems way high as a score. But anything above 25000 points is perfectly doable if you are concentrated and have many hours free in your day

your calculations are not wrong but you are forgetting a couple details here.
1. you don't need to 5* all your opponents
2. you don't need to spend 2 or 3 mins per battle
3. you don't need to retrain army after every battle. You attack non stop.

can't say more cause it is a strategy my alliance created. you figure the rest :)

Sure you don’t have to 5*, you just need to destroy all defensive buildings. That will heavily depend on base layout, most of the time wasting entire base takes no more time than just defensive buildings. I average about 55s per base, but with added time for loading screens, searching opponents, etc. 1:15s is probably not that off. Btw, that guy with 63k xp is gone so all good.
