The overflooding Food Problem

Those of us in the end game know it; food is useless, gold is much more valuable than gold simply because walls require gold to upgrade.

Here are several ideas to make food great again
  • Change gate upgrade cost to food instead of walls
  • Generals shall have its oil upgrade cost decreased, but now also have a food requirement for upgrading.
  • New building: Alliance Hall - This building allows alliance leaders to start conquests: to generate X amounts of food/gold/oil to get bonus rewards. The conquest is a task to pillage/collect say 1,000,000,000 of gold/food/ and 500k oil..(amount to be determined) over a period of 24 hours, if the target is met, everyone in the alliance can collect bonus loot (similar to command post rewards)
    • More things to do and community building for alliances, especially for the alliances that are not active in world war.
    • Reduce the barrier of entry for new players, allows players of higher level to be more welcoming to new players
    • Thematic affect of weaker nations being helped by stronger nations to build their infrastructure.
  • New building: Trading Post - trades oil/gold/food stored in vault at a rate that changes every week(not real time so the servers don't go to ****) The rate of which trading posts can trade is based on the vault withdrawal cooldown. Upgrades on the trading post can give a bonus yield.
    • Gives a purpose to the stale Vault building
    • Easy to implement.
Any other ideas would be great, thanks

Do moderators respond to these posts I see some great ideas and suggestions but I don't any response. I am new to forum, industrial age in game, and none of my replies or comments have been posted, so many questions and concerns but not sure what it takes to be allowed to post.

Great concern on how much food is useless end game, on my days off I try and raid 7 000 000 gold , usually get it but food is constantly at max. So wasting over 8 million in gold each raiding day.

Walls and or clearing using either resource would solve this problem. If I ever am allowed to post I will usually compare CoC s changes. Took 3 years but they now allow walls to be either resource, they heard the players concerns and fixed it. I hope this forum is heard

There are other posts about trading food and other goods but nice ideas, I like the trading post idea.

Funny, I was just going to post this idea. I think hybrid costs are the way to solving the food problem, and this is one of the two obvious options imo. The other is making walls half food and half gold. I don't like the idea of making walls food only, or a choice between food and gold. Better to make them cost some food and some gold, that would keep the resources in balance.

I agree, hybrid costs is the easiest way of fixing it without introducing trade posts etc.

Ps: nice occultist pic.

Agree with everything but the using food to upgrade gates. Gold is for defenses and food is for offense. Gate is a defense building so it should be gold.

The rationale is to make food more useful. I see the trend that offensive buildings etc are food based, perhaps Nexon should stop sticking to that formula because it doesn't make any sense other than being "tradition".

It took me over a year to raid 1 Billion of food and gold, so that number is unrealistic. 50 million is more likely if all alliance members participate.

Even though the Alliance Hall is a great idea for players not having enough folks for WW (I got 3), it should also do something more in action... I currently have no idea yet... :)

I guess the number can be scaled with the number of members, the devs can work on the algorithm. Having more things to do for casual guilds will attract more players(and keep the current ones from leaving)?

i think food or gold to upgrade walls probably makes the most sense.

maybe only after a certain level. but we're about to have level 15 walls that cost 8M for each section and prob at least 150 sections.

The Trading Post idea is pretty cool. I had a similar idea but instead you have a train station (maybe unlocked in the gunpowder or enlightenment age) though i know the industrial age would be best fit for it. However, the general concept is that you could trade one item like food for another, like gold. Oil could be traded as well. Would have to play around with the numbers but you could have each resource be worth different amounts. So for example 1 oil is worth 25 gold and 100 food. Either way it would be nice to see more interaction in alliance gate than just donating troops, lets be honest isnt the whole purpose of a trade good is to be traded...

Some good ideas here, lets keep rolling with it!

How about food to upgrade 'mock/fake' walls. These only count as the last wall level you paid for with gold but look like the next (or higher) level. Of course you can tell and leave the less sensitive areas 'less' protected.
The enemy would have no idea except if they're paying close attention to how fast their troops break through.

Was also thinking that even if your weren't in an alliance you could still use the Railroad/ Train Station. maybe it would run of a schedule where it would come around every 8 or so hours and you could deposit a resource to be trade for something else. In addition you could trade your "trade goods" throughout your alliance if you were in one. So the train would collect what you want anyways but it would either collect it through someone trading with you in your alliance or automatically within the game.

Mock wall would be interesting. Either that or some kind of explosive wall that would detonate on contact. So a fake dynamite wall! That would add an interesting twist to the game.

I'm curious about what else will be in the next update.

On on a side note, why in the world do generals cost oil once you pass level 10? I feel like they should cost food up until they turn into tanks.. I feel like this would have helped out the food problem too.
