You clearly missed the 'no walls' portion of the comment. It isn't that he cannot max because the defenses are strong, its because there are too many hit points. An IA attacker absolutely should be able to 5* a base one age above that has been rushed, and has poor to non-existent defenses.

Too often people here seem to think all bases have maxed defenses for their age. But the truth is they don't. What they want is to see their bases play as if they had max defenses before bothering to build them, not realizing what it means to really have maxed defenses.

A balanced game would allow someone to attack others their own age, who have maxed defenses and 5* them if they go all out, generals, tactics, mercenaries, alliance troops, and maybe but not necessarily requiring troop cards.

We are not in that play space.

What, exactly, are you protecting? This is virtual currency! You can regain what you've lost in 1-3 battles.
Forgetting those people hoarding for an upgrade, the very idea of using blessings or real currency to defend virtual currency is absurd!
Not wanting to ridicule people (any more than l usually do) but it doesn't make sense.
I'm someone who likes designing bases, but as a challenge, not for defense.
Otherwise my rss wouldn't be exposed.

I’d have to disagree here. There are a lot of us with high level bases that put blessings down because why not? They don’t disappear until 10% damage is done. I’ll go through 20+ attacks before that happens. And I’m almost always maxed out on trade goods anyways.

But I agree with most of your posts. I’m max defense and max offense. This was and still should be an offensive game. How boring is it to focus on the part of the game that happens when I’m not logged in! I’ve cut my playing time down by about 80% lately. We just lost a top 3 player who’s been around for 3 years. I’ve been around since day two of launch and I’m thinking seriously about calling it quits too. I have nothing left to upgrade besides generals, university, and some farms/caravans. My base hasn’t been 3 starred in almost 6 months. Just today with my 111k TC that’s outside of walls I had a guy launch 4 TT armies along with 30 raiders and 3 decoys and he still couldn’t snipe TC.

Sad state of affairs...

You know why this isn't a defense game? Because I'm offline when the defense happens.

I set up my base months ago. I spent about an hour on it. It's a nice base and works fairly well. But that was one hour spent months ago playing.

You know what I do when I'm logged on? I attack. That's it.

Or at least, that was what I did before I dropped out of wars, became a full-time farmer, and quit raiding altogether because they've mucked up the game so badly that it's just tedious now, and no longer actually fun.

I agree ... it is both an attacking and a defense game. The issue for me is that most of the time there is no reason to attack because my resources are overflowing and there’s still days and days left on my upgrade timers. World war occupies maybe 15 minutes every two days. I’m already at high medals, so that’s no motivation. So I might spend a greater portion of my time working on defense. It’s fun to tweak my base and then break treaty and wait to see what happens.

Great post, this game has become tedious and not fun over the course of one month.

A great concept with a logical, intricate, tech tree has become an exercise in frantic parameter changes to try and correct mistakes made and reach revenue targets. Watching invincible light tanks overpower MBTs is just embarrassing and the indestructible fighter weekend was evidence of a desperate attempt to try and placate an angry player base.

I farm now and barely raid and only then to drag my medals down as far as possible. I’m not being medal dropped, I’m not being oil raided, I’m certainly not being full on attacked. I’ve come across abandoned Cold War bases for the first time ever, so the drop off in (attacking) player activity is tangible and undeniable. This game is coming to an end.

As long as you are down in low medals, try logging in to tweak your base and break treaty to see what happens. The defense meta is to weaken your design just enough to persuade someone to attack and then take their medals.

Cannibals - no half decent base spends much time with a peace treaty at low medals. Doesn't much matter what you do or how your base is built - if the traps aren't tripped and the bunker lights are on, very little happens except resource snipes. Unless you are global, and then a big cold war will sweep through and wipe you out knowing you can't touch their planes and Heavy Tanks.

In any case, no one down there wants to take anyone else's medals. Below and even sometimes in kingdom, everyone is spending their time dropping medals. That is what I mean by low medals, in case you meant empire or lower dynasty (which is low compared to loonies, granted).

You understand that no one attacks the players with the high-max defenses now? That AA account of yours is the max you have? No wonder you don't know how much defense takes over in AA and CWA then. But in time, you will learn.

I use those blessings only cause my trade goods are always full and there’s nothing else to spend them on

I had a similar attack. A CW player used 5 planes, 3 HTs, some regular tanks, rifles, 3 bazookas, alliance troops, 4 TT, 2 Generals, 3 Tank Destroyers plus 4 tactics and got 2 stars with minimal resources. (less then 2k oil)
He was so intent on getting stars he could've looted all my exposed rss buildings first and it would've been worthwhile. Did l mention my TC is exposed?
l think it's time to roll out my 'help yourself' base, with all my rss in the corner on their own.
In fact, all us high level players with not much left to upgrade should do this to help the lower levels. Let's eliminate the need for paid cards by giving our stuff away! If Nexon won't help us, we can help ourselves.
What do you think? Should we start a revolution?

Apart from this rebalance, whether it existed or not.

This is not just an attacking game. This is not just a defending game.
Yes we all admire and praise strong maxed bases with good design. But how do you achieve that base? By attacking, stealing resources, 5 stars winning.
You could steal resources with raiders and miners, but that is not an efficient attack cause you will lose your troops.
And this is either not about MP. I've seen a lot of complaints about rebalance, but they all brought about MP. If you're a good attacker, test your skills on WW, don't only brag about MP 😉

As for WWs, after the rebalance sandbagging becomes mandatory for a win. When we had a situation global vs atomic before the rebalance, it could be solved with skill, troop cards, luck or whatever. Now it’s a loose game in any case. Atomic and CWA are separated from other ages drastically in defense, and if sandbagging gives an advantage in number of those bases, then it’s an obvious win. Of course if the both sides know the basics about attack and defense.
