I agree why have 600 medals at lvl 37? You will never be able to save enough resources to upgrade anything past lvl 6..I'm lvl 38 with 280 medals and I struggle to loot enough from players around that count, which brings me to my next point/question..I'm struggling to save enough resources to upgrade to gunpowder,as I reach over 500k ress Iand seem to be a massive target, I would have to play /loot all day just to get. 1.3m ress with out being attacked, can anyone guide me around this problem. Thanks in advance Walkingdead.. lvl 38... Japanese town

About research: I'd bloody love to do some research on which nation to pick, but information on the internet seems to be severely limited. I've not even done any more battles than the first tutorial one - ordinarily i'd just pick the germans but I don't even know if rally is useful. So maybe i'll pick british - but what does the longbowman turn into later? Will it be a sniper or something in the ww2 age? What about the german unit? A tank? Gah! need more info!

Lower your medal count significantly so youll only be attacked by enemys weaker then you. Id probably also redesign your base so that your storages and defences are behind walls however design your base that walls are in layers so it takes forever for the enemy to break through your defences to reach your goodies. Id probably put caltrops on the outside to slow down attacking damage and speed and leave your spike and ambush traps inside with your storages to kill off any remaining troops if all your defences are destroyed. Also maybe invest in tower tributes until you reach your goal. Goodluck

Totally agree with Leonidas on the wall front - I wonder if people don't like doing it becuase they are EXPENSIVE!

I'm up to L5, at $90k each piece. Then L6 is $200k EACH PIECE!

Nexon needs to look at that - seems outragous.

Another thing I'm doing now also is if you have sections of your base, separate the cats, stores between walls then upgrade the internal walls between the sections. That means a wall miner might get straight into one section.... but then gets pounded by a cat in the next section, and they have to go through stronger walls to stop it.

I'm new to this game ans I was wondering if I should upgrade m'y defences before changing age... I didnt attack anybody so nobody is attacking me. I just dont see the point of upgrading my defences...

...you WILL see the point when you age upgrade. It's general rule of thumb to upgrade everything you can before going up an age.

I would like to point out that upgrading everything b4 moving up age is a slow way of playing. It is faster to upgrade most things and then move on. The reason is that it takes longer to upgrade all your buildings than to upgrade all Library and blacksmith upgrades. So ideally you should upgrade the library then advance age so that all possible upgrades are happening at once.

Mmm - that makes some sense for sure Whatwhat, I guess that's how most of the people in our Alliance play. It's great to come on here and think about new ways of doing things... I think if you wanted to specifically fast track a specific area (like your army!) then an age upgrade is the go - because you can then upgrade the blacksmith, and get at all the higher level troops.

...I might just start saving for my Town Centre... straight away!!

Hey, I'm new, I've just been playing since Thursday. I read many threads on this forum and also see your post on Wiki Andy. It's really helpful ;)

But I have some newbie question (I'm in Bronze age atm and today I will upgrade my Town Centre):

1) How should correct battle in which I want to loot food and gold looks like? I mean, do I have to destroy all buildings or is it possible to end earlier after destroying mills and markets without loosing troops (and what exactly happens after clicking the 'End Battle' and 'Return Home' buttons?) ?

You can use this button to return to home, but if you haven't destroyed defenses you will loose your troops but you will keep your loot (I think).

I disagree with d.weermeijer on the advancing to a new age quickly. The fact is when advancing to a new age that 50 extra gold fee is not that big a deal when i am raiding 50k plus loot easily every 10 minutes(including troop training time). The amount of loot is also countered because you will be able to attack higher level players and raid there resources where they will contain a lot of resources. But that is just one method of playing. Both methods have their pros and cons. I don't like people saying not to advance or to advance. I think the best thing to say in this thread to beginners is to show them to the pros and cons of each method and let them decide because they are different ways to play the game. I personally like the rushing idea to get strong as soon as possible and some people prefer to upgrade everything before advancing to the next age.

Maybe i am just a different type of player but i like to upgrade 3 things when my town center is completed. First i upgrade the markets and mills, then the Blacksmith or any research building. This allows me to get stronger troops which will help me defeat stronger people and get more loot by raiding stronger people. I tend to use all the food on research and all the gold on walls and as soon as i can upgrade the age i upgrade it because i find it to be much faster and easier to get stronger. I understand that their are cons to this methods but you must understand that it is just another method to play the game. I don't like when people tell other beginners to go down this road and not explain the benefits or cons of the other method. I think you should explain both methods and let everyone decide themselves which method they would like to do
Just my 2 cents

I disagree Leonidas. Some people I agree are just rushing the ages in order to get the best buildings and ignoring the walls. However, I am currently maxing out walls way before i can even save up enough resources to upgrade the markets in order to hold the gold necessary to upgrade the age. I only upgrade research, walls and age and if i have time since some ages take a long time to upgrade i will upgrade other structures when i can but as you increase in age the walls get harder and harder to upgrade so the ability to upgrade the other structures isn't always so easy but still the walls are very important. I have very weak defenses but very strong walls and i have seen my weak defenses kill attacking armies while they are still destroying walls.
But Andy i believe the walls are just doubling in price. I don't think a rise from 90K to 200k is really that drastic. If it was up to me i would have made it 100k not 90k to make it more evened out but either way i think the prices aren't that big a deal till u start getting to a point where each wall will cost millions.

I think this should be edited into the first post of this thread.

I have noticed that the best way to loot is to make all your army of horse raider (troops that target resources). This costs me at the moment about 1000 food every time and takes about 8-9 minutes to create the army during which time it is best to collect from your farms and animals to make up the 1000 you just used then raid and i usually get atlas 25k each resource. The trick i noticed is that looking for the gold can be sometimes difficult as i missed it a lot in the beginning of the game. I assumed that the gold would be in the market when most of the gold was in fact in the roads. I think the best advice is to find a base with a lot of resources and with the 30 seconds you have in the beginning look into the markets to see if the gold is in the markets or if it is in those tiny bags on the road. That way it is easier to know where to attack and find the most amount of gold before your troops die. The fact is that your army will die easily since they don't target defenses or troops but at this stage (beginner level) the most important thing is to farm and not to worry about medals.
Just my 2 cents

"the best way to loot is to make your whole army horse raider" no offence but I think the most useless troops in this game is horse raider. I used them only once. So far I have looted over 300 million combined resources. If I play for 1 hour I can loot 3 to 4 million combined resources. I'm pretty sure you couldn't do that with horse Raiders.
