Happy to help, sinner! I would really suggest parking the university researches till you get to Atomic Age or higher.
And, from what I've observed, defensive upgrades seem to bring in a lot of war weight compared to offensive upgrades.
Another reason I'm suggesting moving up and unlocking the next age defensive buildings (after the offensive upgrades) is that, the complexity of taking down a base goes up with the increase in the number of buildings.
Plus, considering that you're in IA, you're just one step short of getting to Global to add the missile silo to your base - IA defenses + missile silo is a lot harder combination to take down compared to IA defenses + defenses buffed up at the university.
