What’s the point of going to war?

In my alliance people don't really care about rebalance. They only care about matchmaking. So we'll just continue, while trying to achieve game goals.

Agree with No Angel. If and when we get a near even match then the games are real fun. Needs skill from the entire team to win.

Agree with all the anti rebalance points but what the heck, it applies to *all* so come on. Those threatening to quit - I am really sorry to see you go and hope you change your mind, but the rest let us play :).

I and several others in my alliance stopped warring shortly after the rebalances began and started playing other games.

Raiding is a chore now, and unless you raid for NTG (the only reason I had to raid even before the stupid rebalances), you can't compete in war against high level CWA bases, so there was no point anymore.

If raiding were still viable and still fun then wars would still be fun, too, even if a little tougher (I can still 5* after the rebalance, but that's not the point). But they're not, and it isn't.

Our alliance is struggling to fill 10v10 wars now because so many people have quit. What do you think that's going to do for matchmaking, eh?

Wars are suspended after the rebalance here. We were running lean without a high defensive base at the top, counting on perfect scores with fastest time. The rebalance made that mix obsolete.

Yep, still warring and still enjoying it. We're currently fighting a war against opponents who have heavily sandbagged but their global and atomic age bases are only getting two and three stars against our industrial age guys....hehehe....looks like we're going to win

I think it all depends on how much Glory you have, if you have anything above 19K glory and have a lot of high hitters sure thing you'll be matched up with a beastly alliances but we've been at 17K Glory with 4 Atomic players so we still seeing quite few even match ups that we can handle. I look at this way, yes it is harder to 5🌟 bases for me and my teams but that is exactly the same case for the opposition, so both teams need to do maximum number of attacks. So as long as we still be able to win even Wars when it's a fair match up we have no plans stopping.

Nobody in our Alliance has quit due to the re-balance and we war back to back as before. Ok it's harder to 5 star now but it's the same for our opposition, we're adjusting to the changes.

Hey Cannibals. How's your NTG collection in high medals going after stage 4?

It doesn't apply to all equally. Suffice to say CWA folks with max offense and good defense have the least downsides when it comes to raiding NTGs (able to attack the same targets as atomics) and the most upsides as they won't get attacked in MP at all. And in wars, alliances with CWA players and sandbags will have the upper hand against any alliance that doesn't have these.

Your warring members must have equal strength from top to bottom eh? Lucky you 😊

It's exactly true. Fair play, rebalance applies for both teams.

We still war. Basically we still beat alliances weaker than us, and lose to ones that are stronger. The relative balance hasn't changed that much. P2W might be even worse than before, but most wars are bad matchmaking, and we get good ones about as often as ever (about 1 in 10). Grinding for NTGs sucks worse now, and everyone feels worse about their attacks failing. Overall activity in the alliance is down significantly. Several people have dropped out because of the changes, and a lot more just don't enjoy the game as much, myself high on that list. We'll see how much longer it continues.

we still war but we went from "not-hardcore" down to to "whatever, we do this" level of interest.
it's still a kind of social-tactical exercise, if nothing else the 'herding cats' challenge of getting the whole team to attack.

No change ... same as stage 3. It just takes 30 seconds more to get that 3rd star.

I don’t think War has changed for a lot of people. I would say that people have either quit the game or still play but I don’t know anyone that has quit war only. Since it’s the only reason I play, if I quit war than the game is over. The game has always been about matchups. Regarding of rebalance, hackers, sand baggers, if you get a bad matchup you’re going to lose. Just like MP with medal count, the glory amount dictates your opponent for the most part. For damn sure it’s much more of a struggle to play the game in general. There’s a lot of different reasons that people would quit but if you were a person that already had a hard time attacking, the rebalance would cause you to leave. I’ve seen people struggle and never try to improve. Trying the same thing over and over is just insanity. Just to say it’s too hard without trying different things, well your choice. I think the biggest change for our alliance is that we are using many more offensive coals. Before I was confident in going all defense and still easily getting 5 stars, these days not so much. Even with the rebalance I find myself using betrayal which I haven’t in forever.

Pardon my scepticism, but with the troop comps you showed in your video you are not taking down any of those high medal bases down to 50% destruction AND QV from TC, especially after stage 4 and upcoming stage 5. The only way is if you are skipping through 40-50 bases trying to find the right abandoned easy base in those medal ranges, and using a full assortment of tactics, maybe even troop cards? In which case you are using more resources and crowns than you care to admit, and/or wasting time looking at loading screens.

Oh and yeah you get 2 NTGs on a 3 star victory. 1 from the nation, 1 random. Sometimes, and a lot of the times you get 0. It's painfully ineffective but I guess you gotta defend the game at all costs so...

Participating in a WW is the only chance for CWA now to watch a full attack against his base. After a certain level your defensive buildings mean nothing in mp, since you’re no longer attacked for anything else but TC or refinery sniping.

KniferX You are pardoned!

Checking back, I am in fact only earning 2 NTGs from 3 star defeats ... you are right there. I was misremembering getting 3 from the stage 2 5* victories. Also you are right that I don’t earn my three star defeats with cavalry alone ... I use a different mix with cav and HTs to mill about before going in for the TC+QV then round out with infantry for 50% star. Since training blessing works on HT, the crown cost for instant rebuild of all forces goes to 11 when French.

It’s true I have to look for the right base - something not all enclosed by walls. It only takes a couple Next to find one usually. I only need to get to 25% destruction before heading in for TC for another 10% and then find another 15% with infantry and tanks runout. You should give it a try.

TBH I’m basing my post stage 4 assessment on only having retried it once on each of three accounts (CW, AA, and IA) as I’m not in need of NTG due to full coffers and suspending wars. I’ll post a video when I get around to it after stage 5.
