What artifact is worth upgrading?

So by far this is a very complicated question when I get something worth considering. Should I spend all my resources on the current finding only to find a better version in next month? There are three variables for every useful perk: its percentage, combination with other perks and its place (first, second, third...). For example, I got a very useful perk with the maximum percentage, but it was third in the list combined with four useless abilities, so I decided to sell it. But I don't have enough information to decide if it was a good decision. Obviously, I'll never get an artifact with five useful stats (except for the money), but what is the level, from which we may concider an artifact to be rare and worth upgrading? Three useful perks with maximum percentage? Or maybe this option is also impossible? What are your boundaries to decide if the artifact worth upgrading?

I am only holding on to artifacts that
1. Have a useful first perk - oil well production +, heavy artillery +, ...
2. The percentage of the first perk must be at least 6%
3. The second perk must again be useful and have at least 6%
4. There must be at least one other useful perk with a value of 6% in the remaining 3 items.

given that it is next to impossible to upgrade an artifact without gambling 99 crowns to get the museum “resource” resource, artifact the above characteristics are the only ones I would consider upgrading.

I agree that you might get some good ones that start at 6% and it’s worth using them but the museum seems like a more drawn out version, with more randomness in it, than the Uni. Despite the Uni needing workers it has a certain logic in it and you can control what you want/get.
I can’t see museum being genuinely worth it for any age. I’d rather just loot the extra 1% of food or let my mortars kill invading troops who don’t have a 2% reduction in their health.
Early days yet but it seems like a huge waste of time, at least for me in CW. It might be a nice diversion for some, especially lower ages as the boosts will help general raiding. But for me, right now, I’ll pass. I might rethink if I’m done upgrading oil troops/buildings and I’m getting bored.
It’s a pity the museum resources are so hard to come by, just another grind in the game.

Eventually you’re going to find one with at least three decent 11% stats. Before you start blowing supplies, you should remember that. Also, remember they’re going to be rewarding artifacts for various events. I predict they’ll be filled with 6% stats.

Direct Answer: don’t upgrade at all unless there are 3 useful 11% slots.

I agree. I immediately sell any artifact that does not have an 11% boost in the first slot, or at least three 11% boosts. Which means I sell all my artifacts.

After gathering statistics on 20 artifacts, it appears the chance of an 11% boost is 0.1, or 1 in 10. So, 1 in every 10 artifacts will be useful without upgrading. Add in the fact that half the boosts are not worth having, and only 1 in 20 are worth keeping. crafting 5 objects per day, you should get one every 4 days.

Now let's make the criteria the first 2 slots must have useful 11% boosts. The chances of that happening are 1 in 400. You are going to get one of those every 80 days, about 2.5 months. Useful 11% boosts in first 3 slots? 1 in 80,000, or every 1,600 days, or about 5 years.

Now, there are a lot of players crafting artifacts. Let's say 100,000 crafting 5 each per day, so 500,000 per day. Every day, seven lucky players will get a great artifact. For the rest of us, hold on to artifacts with a useful 11% boost in the first slot, and those with useful 6% boosts in the first 2 slots, but don't upgrade or unlock extra slots. Wait for artifacts with two useful 11% boosts in the first 2 slots; they should come along every couple of months. If they have another 11% boost in one of the other slots, or 2 6% boosts, they are worth unlocking and upgrading.

I am continuing to collect statistics, and will update this post if the odds change.

It will provide some value to some. I won't care, as long as they keep it out of war. I'm convinced that will be game ending if they put it in.

From what I've seen so far I would consider a good finding an artifact with two useful perks in first three slots each having 6-11%. And yes, applying this criteria I sold everything that I've found yet:)

I wanted a better estimate of how often each percentage occurs, so I recorded the stats of every artifact I crafted across my 4 bases. Turns out my feeling was way off. 11% boosts occur 10% of the time, 6% boosts 40%, and 1% boosts 50%. That changes the odds of getting a "legendary" artifact considerably. You should get an artifact with a useful 11% boost in the first slot 1 in 20 times, so every 4 days. An artifact with 11% boosts in the first 2 slots should appear every 20 days. An artifact with 11% boosts in the 1st 3 slots should come along every 1600 days, so probably not worth waiting for.

That would be the goal, and therefore it will likely be hard to find those, but I hope I’m wrong.

I hope you’re wrong too, but I won’t be betting the ranch on the first 3 slots, whatever the odds.

I recommend artifacts with lots of 11% slots. I have one with 2 of them that if fully upgraded give 40% chance to find NTG during battle (other effects include 20% to oil looted so 2 10% slots and one 15% in gold looted)

Haha no worries. If you’re almost done w CW no game addition will matter much to you at this point it seems. Pretty much autopilot

I was wrong. The chances of getting an 11% boost are 10%. I have updated my post to reflect that.

I guess there's just the luck factor. I've only see one 11% item on one stat but even than it was in the 3rd or 4th slot and not anything worth keeping.

How about this one? admiral Yu's armor which gives me: -11% heavy cavalry (tanks) damage, -1% fighter HP, -6% supply cart healing, -11% fighter damage, -11% ranged siege damage. This is against invading forces and seems pretty powerful artifact to me if I can unlock them all (currently only 1 unlocked). Three 11% and one 6% bonus, on top of that against tanks fighter and artillery...worth keeping?
