What have you done to the AI?

The AI was bad enough already but lately it can be ridiculous. Artillery and rifleman keep wanting to separate, even after rallying, and troops seem to be moving more slowly. I thought there must be caltrops nearby given the slowdown, but that's not the case.

Why are you making this game so frustrating? :(

I noticed shooter's detect range increased. So it there is enemy around, they will move away to attack them whereas cannon only focuses on nearest building. That's often the reason they split. Probably should reduce shooter's detect range a bit.

Another headache is the changing in path finding. Troops especially horses go far in order to take an opening hole and often abandon the rest of troops. There is a thread about this already.

It would be good that we can have Design Spotlight on AI. To me this is what separates this game from the rest.

cuz of shooter detection range, i prefer to call that act of suicide, they always run to veeery distant enemies so they get closer to mortars and away from the rest of ur army
fair enough after making heavy infantry suicide, now its shooters turn to suicide too, even supply wagons suicide sometimes when u rally and take a different path full of dangers than the rest of ur army
AI is destroyed and nobdy cares cuz every1 got the overpowered high range british shooters that are less likely to be as stupid as regular shooters

There has most certainly been an AI issue- troops splitting, attacking walls nonsensically, healers bouncing back and forth between small groups not knowing which to heal first- and thus not healing either.

Last night on a rally, my healers had not gone off too far and could have easily come straight down to the rally point. Instead they looked right at me and said, 'no, empress, no; we shall take a leisurely stroll on the scenic route- this way, past every. single. defensive. structure.' And. they. did.

Only one made it- but don't worry, he was so badly injured that he died in the end. Just as the AI had intended...

My artillery have been known to pick a target and steadfastly roll slowly towards it .... past other buildings :(

Into the range of towers of course ... and die

Haha that's funny Maggie. Honestly I believe bhg is trying to make AI better, not worse. Their hands might be tied because the AI has to run a paltry processor on our mobile devices. So it can't compete with AlphaGo per se. What we can help is to point out exactly where the AI is off so that bhg can tweak according.
Again I call for a design spotlight on AI so that players know better how AI works and so can we spot issues better.
