when does victory chest and league boat evaluate medals?

i'm wondering when exactly the medal evaluation is done for victory chest/leage boat rewards.

if you are in silver medal range and the victory chest appears ... and in getting the 15 stars you advance to gold medals .....
how is the victory chest reward evaluated; for silver or gold?
or if you happen to drop from silver to bronze ... is the reward now bronze?

similarly if the victory chest is sitting there, is the reward calculated when it shows up or when you click it ...
so can you medal-advance in hopes of improving the reward?

Once you get the victory chest and click on it, the reward is fixed no matter of your next medal movements. Sometimes I use victory chest as an additional gold storage if I expect two upgrades to finish simultaneously and the next upgrades cost more than my maximum gold capacity. As for the other questions - I can’t tell. Getting victory chest right at the moment of transition between the leagues happens very rarely.

i am still confused so i'll simplify the question .....

if the victory chest appears, is the reward decided when the "quest" appears to get stars? or is it decided when you complete the stars?
so ... if you see it, should you try to advance a league in the daily star-quest?

Think the medal count is taken into account when you first get points for it.

I personally hover around 1900-2100 medal range and sometimes I start around 1950 and finish the chest with barely over 2000, e.g. 2007 I get the Kingdom league rewards - so I assume it's the rewards from the 'last' battle that fills/finishes the chest

I can confirm that it's the last battle. First 5 stars I got in Kingdom 2. Then I dropped to Silver 1. Got the remaining 7 stars and - Silver 1 rewards.
