Why am I #6?

Sorry if this has been discussed before:

We just started another 30v30 and I’m on the roster at #6 yet I’m only the 14th highest level in our alliance. They’ve been placing me higher on the rankings than other players for some time now. Can someone please explain how this works? I’ve been curious about this for awhile.

Anyone?
Even if it’s to point me in the direction of where to find the info on it.

Hey, we have a similar "issue" but we normally do 10 or 15 war.
Im number 1 as cold age, number 2 atomic, number 3 and 4 space.
for what i analyzed, we both have better defense than our space age friends.
so i think that matter a lot. Basically we have stronger defense and weaker attack haha.
you should see ur defense vs friends.

Level means nothing.

Or to put it another way, do you think a player with all farm/economy upgrades (and few troop/defense upgrades) should rank higher than someone with zero farms but solid offense/defense if the farmer has a higher level?

The concept here is "war weight" which is discussed all over. Defense typically contributes the most war weight but it's not an exact (known) science. Odds are that you enjoy upgrading defenses, and building every defensive building... so have high war weight.

SomeRandomPlayer Thanks for your comment, and yes I max out everything but I do defense last after going up an age. I start with all the offense first every age just to make farming multiplayer easier, then fill in everything else before moving up so I’m not a soft target when I get there. #6 is still tough though when you’re 1 or 2 ages behind your mirror, sometimes 3. At 142 being paired up against someone in their 220’s still looks a little intimidating, might help if their bottom 10 weren’t all Iron Age.

A 140 shouldnt be paired with a 220, if your alliance is blindly having you attack the opponent with the same war rank as you, it might be time to start shopping around for a new alliance.

kilgore_trout No we don’t have any kind of mandatory attack schedule. Just pointing out how unbalanced the matchups are. However, if I can’t attack my mirror someone else has to. We were so unbalanced last war, our #1 was only able to get 2 stars on our opponent’s #6 while I had to go for #10.

The opponent on the other hand was easily able to get 5 stars across the board. Would be nice if once in awhile we weren’t the underdog but I can’t remember the last time we weren’t.

Anyway, back on topic, I was just looking for info on the war ranking system. Just confused how higher level players can have less upgrades than me when XP is based on upgrades.

Level is based on all upgrades. War ranking is based on offense/defense upgrades.

Not all XP is alike. Defense XP adds the most war weight; you have high defense. Offense XP adds less war weight; economy adds the least. War weight management is a huge thing; lots of threads/discussions all over the internet on this... I suspect your alliance does not account (or think about) it so are all busy maxing defense while your opponents age up after maxing offense. As an example, everyone should be Atomic at age 150 as Atomic is so very awesome.

Also, "mirror" is a dirty word and should never be used in this game. Alliances that worry about mirrors and focusing on attacking near their rank will fail. There's so much more (and better) information to determine who attacks who. Namely, War Coalition choices (which are underrated) and attack ability.
