The dumb linear increase of costs and cool downs, and in fact the neglecting of a rebalancing of resources and economics clearly show, it's just about real money from now on.
Just wait and they will introduce special units and tactics or blessings that can only be purchased by crowns...

I'm in agreeance for the generals to have their own upgrade station .. Maybe not the castle but an officer school .. 6 generals filling up the armory is too cumbersome and there are too many other upgrades that take priority

I do pretty much the same, my highest general is only 11, but Ive been able to get the most important stuff. Good strategy

And the extra building would be another target to destroy in multiplayer thereby lengthening the battle by seconds .. And you would need to upgrade it to advance generals in increments of ten or so .. More resources to farm ... Yay !!

Loot is fine. I do 1 (at most 2) training blessings a day. Like Konigsberg, I too sit on max food, would sit on max gold if I didn't throw them all into my level 10 walls.

I like this Idea. And they can always extend the battle timer by 15 seconds to account for an extra building. Don't see a problem.

Why not have 2 separate buildings? An armory for weapons (as the name suggests) and a construction yard for machines? Generals can/should be ''trained'' at the castle (as some have already postulated). This way we have 3 facilities for upgrading troops.

Plus an extra 15 secs added to the timer?

Remember upgrading is an option, not a forced thing to do. They provide us many option to choose, not to do them all! As in real life you had better make the right choose!

2 really good longtime players have quit the game totally in my alliance already. I might be the 3rd. Game is getting ridiculous with the intentional design to make you break out your wallet for absurd amounts of real money.

i can't imagine what the space age will look like. probably month long upgrades for little real benefit.

already in the industrial age there are upgrades that take 12 days .. global probably extends them by at least a week .. i think space age is at least two more ages beyond that so we could be looking at a month just for upgrades to the markets or mills

I don't have Global Age yet. I'm an iOS user. However, with 2 more troops and 1 more air unit, 10 more levels per general (60 levels in total), more troop, tactics, planes upgrades in Armory, I think it would make sense to add an additional blacksmith.

I'm in IA and I calculated that it would take me over a year to max out my Armory. Now with Global that's probably gonna be 2-3 years to get everything maxed.

I think an additional blacksmith would be reasonable. The current one is overworked and probably will die of exhaustion if he doesn't get an help from another blacksmith

lol, Yeah I don't think my blacksmith has slept for quite a long time either. Neither has my librarian. :)

Fluff ..... I will have you know that as soon as my general has done with the hair, nails and makeup routine he is more than keen to get his hands dirty.

You are never rude. I have played with enough players that quit when they went from medieval to gunpowder. It happens, some players only like the easy stages.

If you haven't played StarCraft yet I suggest you do. You can build as many armouries as you like and have all 3 upgrading troops or weapons at the same time. Hello Nexon - are you listening ??!!!
