All Quiet on the Community Front

It seems lately the forums and to a greater extent the devs' interaction with the community have really quieted down. I know alliance wars are coming up and the devs are hard at work but it'd be nice to get any sort of small update, preview, or interaction here.

As others have mentioned we haven't had a State of the Nations since September, and the last Design Spotlight was in early October. The last Dev Team Q&A was back in June and Ironangel mentioned in that something similar would be planned soon.
Hi everyone! We're actually planning something like this in the near future. Stay tuned!

And I'm not trying to call anyone out, but it also seems like the rest of the moderation team is nonexistent. IronAngel seems to be the only mod who ever posts and interacts regularly. What ever happened to the rest of the mods and community managers? It'd be nice to have additional mods actively posting in players' threads and not only in the announcements.

Meanwhile Asian markets are getting trailers and previews of the upcoming World War while I'm just sitting here double clickin' and checking each day for anything new.

Just take a look at how vibrant Korea's DomiNations community is at the Dominations Naver Cafe http://cafe.naver.com/nexondominations. They've got much more active mods, and are apparently even holding community contests with crown prizes for those that can beat the campaign the fastest. They're making cool graphics for the Tower Promotion http://imgur.com/UopcqUA and interesting comics that I can't even read http://imgur.com/IOUkv7X I mean heck they've even got cooler emojis than us!

Now I know Nexon's a Korean company and I'm just venting my jealously, but looking at that and then us makes me think that we've been "beta-testers" all along.

I mean at least throw us a bone or something. The games been getting really dry lately, and with it, these forums. This is my only source of Dominations entertainment. The Youtubers and frequent forum contributors ditched this game long ago.

South Korea, China and to a lesser extent Japan are HUGE markets for mobile gaming and all gaming in general, so it's no surprise they are focusing their marketing on making as much of a presence there as they can.

What does surprise me is that there must be little-to-none of the marketing team designated to the English-speaking player base. Whether that's because they deemed it unnecessary or because they're understaffed, who knows. I agree it would be nice to at least be kept up-to-date on what's coming, even if it's only a few quick posts in the Announcements section every now and then.

I think we are going to be 'beta-testers' for a while longer - it's the nature of the game. How many in-house testers would BHG need to play this in real-time (or how would they know if 12 day upgrades are reasonable) then test alliance wars, 100,200 300, 1000? Can't be done - we are the play-testers.

Without the stats it difficult to say about Nexon's Asian markets - perhaps folk in that part of the world accept that spending 150% of their disposable income on a mobile game is normal judging from the shear number of Asian alliances that have maxed everything, whereas In Europe/USA/Australia we drew the line at the Starter Pack. A business has to target it's main market.

Lack of information and post from BHG/Nexon here shows that this community is summarily ignored. Not a good PR strategy in my opinion. How difficult is it for BHG/Nexon to make a clarification post about World War?

No ones arguing that Nexon shouldn't market heavily towards their Asian player base. I'm just pointing out the huge disparity between the two. It's pretty clear that we aren't the intended audience after all is said and done. A ton of starter packs were bought and most players have since then packed their bags.

If your game's running dry with players leaving I'd imagine you'd try to salvage your losses by building and maintaining a loyal community base intrigued while you improve your game. Instead, we've got a single participating mod here and nothing else to show for. I have more than enough fingers to count the regular forum posters here from memory. And you'd think that all the forum referrals in the CS ticket signatures would encourage players to join and register. For what to watch me rant? Game announcements if that's why you're here are better found on Facebook.

I mean just look at the DomiNations homepage: http://www.dominations.com/ Nothing's changed. It still features the mushroom cloud in the backdrop lol.. There's also zero to none marketing here which is pretty disheartening when you consider this game's potential.

I'm constantly barraged by CoC cartoon ads and Kate Upton asking me to save her in a castle. Yet no Average Joe is even aware this game exists. Hell just hire one of those Carl's jr models and have her dressed as Cleopatra in a tank. No one will know what it means but it'll be provocative and get the people going.

I found this game from a Facebook ad. They need more marketing for sure, but they are doing some. But yes, the lack of support for non-asian players is very disappointing.

Maybe their big marketing push will come when this game is fully operational. Meaning alliance wars, close app, defense that matters

U only get one shot with the players base. If u do the marketing before the games ready the players come. Find broken game. Leave

I agree with dubka, I think once they finally roll everything out in the Asian market, they'll come back to the other markets. I found this game from facebook ad back in April. I think once they have more money from the Asian market, they'll have the income to do ads for North&South Americas, Europe, and Australia.

Maybe korea gets more marketing because its cheaper to buy marketing in korea when ur funds are limited. More bang for ur buck?

Nexon already make $$millions of profit - probably none of it from this game though.

I saw Dominations as an ingame ad back in April - haven't seen another since.

I read about the game almost a year ago and based on the description I thought it would be a sound choice. I even went as far as pushing it on another gaming forum and have seen some players migrate here to play (unfortunately the hype was overplayed and some of them left). I agree that this game has not fared well in terms of downloads but as Dbukalski said, maybe the marketing push will come after the introduction of alliance wars. Still holding on for now......

Quite a few people were banned a while ago, not sure if that has anything to do with the forum going "quiet"..also, unfortunately the game just wasn't the run away success that early players had hoped it would be. Check any app grossing site and it will tell you the numbers are all sliding the wrong way. I still play and love this game, but I'm not looking for it to crack back into the top 50 again anytime soon.

The players that were banned arent the ones on here. If the forums quiet is because weve complained ourselves out. Some stuff has been fixed. Some stuff weve come to terms with. The tactial stuff worth talking about is being discussed in other locations.

Maybe that's because today's ''short attention span, find something easier'' mentality is more interested in games like angry birds (ridiculous game) or candy crush than long term ''thinking man's'' games like this.

Kudos to you (and all of us) for sticking with it.
