I've read a post about this somewhere, lost it cause the Search feature is not optimized. I'm adding some to it.
1. More Campaign maps. Put troop tactics and special buildings on the maps too.
2. Challenge, or tournament mode. Here all players no matter what age/level can attack 1 dummy base, but only allowed to use certain troops. Example, only allowed to use howitzers and riflemen. Best 100 will receive rewards.
3. Expansion mode. Here we attack several dummy bases, with themed design, for example desert design, or space design. Similar to Campaign, but we will form a team of minimum 2 players. Players are randomly arranged, or we can also invite fellow alliance mate.
Team that finish acquiring all maps will receive rewards.
These will add excitement to all players, including non warring players.
