I just had this experience, so I decided to share it, so new players can plan things better.

I am in early to mid GP, playing British and having pikemen, archers and cavalry upgraded to GP, but I don't have bombards, etc.
Also, my defenses are far behind GP age, but my base has like 7 sections and even generated some victories against unlucky enlightenment attackers, so it can hold up to 500K resources without being attacked.

Nevertheless, without strong defense I decided to try getting 3M gold in one session, since I had some free time. (Luckily, there was no maintenance this day)
So, I've started with like 200K gold and had another 200K gold ready to take out from the safe.
Also, I kept 6 workers free and used hunting blessing a lot, may be 5 times and I think it helped to get another 100K gold at least.

It took me 25 battles (excluding those ones to drop medals) to collect 2.5M gold and 5 hours of gameplay, so it was approx. 100K gold per battle in average and 500K gold per hour.
I've spent 50 crows for army speed ups. Medal range was around 1000

I think there is a lot of things I could do better to reduce long gameplay session or crowns spent:

1. better defenses which can hold more resources and better gold/food balance, so I could start with at least 400K gold
2. upgrade the safe, so it can hold 300K gold
3. I haven't used blessing which increases loot, may be it would help
4. Better attacking. Bombards could be more time efficient, who knows, but I completely wasted 2 battles and 2 armies due to mistakes in attack

In general, it's easier to pay 10 USD of course, but I am pretty happy with the balance here and fun I had. As a bonus, I also collected 2M food.
I hope this helps.

This is what I suspected, whatwhat ;) Even though I had fun with balistas, I found cavalry/archers combo very strong and more stable. Can't wait to try bombards. Is healing cab is required too for this unit composition? Also, a guy from our alliance did 3m in 6 hours on low medals without crowns at all, so this is similar.

i dont use healer. but bombards are much better than balistas, and cannon are amazing. Since they got the buff, the cavalry are alot better but im still using cannon as my main offense.

Lol ^^ WhatWhat What's lol.

When I use the training blessing or have time to wait I like to make a couple Bombards in my army as well, but it sure hurts to lose them.

7 heavy knights, 25 british snipers and 28 melee troops all GP upgraded make wonders as for me. I use zerg archers instead of bombards to take down enemy defensive balistas/cannons and the rest is up to cavalry. If I don't miss hidden balista or knights do not run around it, it gives quite efficient victories up to strong enlightement where defensive knights can stuck my cavalry. Usually I loose part of the army 5-6 mins to restore. Loosing a bombard is 16 mins to restore, that's a huge problem imo.

cooking time of bombards really is a huge downside when using it so best way is to keep it alive in battles else suffer the time waiting making another one.
thanks for the tip redgar! im in early gp age and find this info useful for me.

Meher, basically he said enough ;) using cannons as a main striking force and no healer means 4-5 cannons and quite a few archers and soldiers to defend them. Cavalry is the way less efficient when the group is less than 6, which can take down balista without losses, so probably there are elephants instead to tank ;)
