Colosseum or Notre Dame?

I am trying to decide between these 2 wonders for the classical age. I am curious which one is better in the long run?

I know that the colosseum produces troops while on the defensive, but how many? How good are these troops that come out? My first wonder I chose was Acropolis so I was thinking thinking that Notre Dame might be better because the research cost reduction will help more in the long run, and I am not sure how effective the colosseum defenders will be as I advance throughout the ages.

Any opinion is welcome.

colosseum is a must if you hate losing defending battles, notre dame if you dont care about losing a battle here and there
colo helps you prevent losing resources, notre saves you resources
pretty much balance out

In the "long run" you will no longer care about resources, because you will have finished building everything and the game will be about pushing medals and reaching higher leagues (and any other fun PvP things that the developers decide to add in the future). Therefore, in the long run, the only two choices are Forbidden City, and Colosseum. As a point of interest, the Acropolis also boosts the Colosseum.

What kind of troops come out of the colosseum?

Hoplite. 8 of them. Not sure if it upgrades when you upgrade your units/proceed through the ages. Currently nearing the end of classical age.

i chose acropolis and notre dame. Imo, these wonders fits with the greeks. Still, it depends on your play style. If you're an offensive/defensive kind of player then go for the colosseum. But if you want to get all the new upgrades fast with lower cost, then ND is the choice.

the offensive ability offered by colly is much better than the static defense, don't know why people ignore this part of the wonder.

I was deciding between these two also, and I think with how easy it is to raid for resources right now, the coliseum has got to be the better choice.

I wouldnt say its much better, you only get to use it once a day...while the defensive bonus is used every defense.

Plus the ND looks nice so it'll make for a nice ornament when you're done with all the library/blacksmith upgrades

Your highest level Garrison determines your colloseum troops.

Pick Notre Dame, by far.

I'm Industrial Age, 146 level, and I still have it.

It's BY FAR better than Colosseum for general purpouses . Colosseum is not gonna make at all you losing or winning a battle. The amount of resources it saves I'm pretty sure is less of what Notre Dame saves you:

In the future, you will have oil upgrades for generals, very though if you are not a heavy raider, and specially library gold upgrades.

Unless people saying you to pick Colosseum, is already walls maxed, I don't really follow their way of saying so contundent Notre Dame is that bad...

And Global Age is almost here, so you will have Notre Dame, for a very very very long time!!

You won't regret it, trust me.

Resource savings is just one of the more visible benefits of Notre Dame. There are other benefits as well for a newly initiated player, but I don't like listing them because you should find out on your own or join my alliance to chat with me

secret benefits? Vincent, your the wonders king! Can you pm me about this? I'm pretty stuck on having colliseum, rely on the strength of gladiators perk to get 5 stars in wars, is this notre dame perk just for earlier ages, or should I also consider switching?

It's important to consider wonders as a combination, rather than evaluate their effectiveness in isolation. Defensive wonders work well together, and so do wonders which boost your economy. Having chosen Acropolis already, the Colosseum would be a better fit to go with the Acropolis. Notre Dame would be a better fit to go with the Stonehenge.

Thats like a biggest dilemma of the whole game for me. I wanted to change for Notre at least 3 times and finally never did it.
With all those 40k+ oil generals updates its soooooo tempting!

If you don't have it anymore, don't change, but if you have it, I think it's ok to keep.

The troop that spawns from the colosseum is the same troop that spawns from your highest upgraded garrison.
