Defending against the cavalry from forest

How do you guys against the cavalry from the forests? It is extremely annoying when you deploy cats and they just come out and rape the cats before you can even deploy something else. Can I 'trigger' them to ensure my cats land safely?

If you are IA, 1 plane kills them all. Before IA, you can lure them with one troop. They will go after the first troop you deploy.

Deploy ranged or melee troops first ;-]
I generally start by dropping calvary or mercs (mahouts), this most often triggers those foresters and I then dropp my rifles to distract and kill while I'm dumping the rest of my army.

I've never figured out where they are going to emerge from. I do believe the tc triggers them when you get inside that range.

40+ archers or muskets usually deals with them no problem. Use 2 or 3 fingers to get them down fast.

I see many attackers rally their units back to quickly focus on and eliminate my forest defenders. They only downside is sometimes the canons wander off ahead of the pack and become easy targets.

If you're deploying archers/riflemen with your first volley they'll take care of these forest cats without needing planes. Just keep them grouped for maximum effect daddy-o!

You didn't say what your army composition is, apart from cats. If you use heavy cavalry, put them down first, then the cats, then your shooters. If you don't use HC, put down your shooters first. You should have about a 10 to 1 ratio of shooters to cats.

Horses die from 2 machine guns, tanks from a plane.
Drop your heavy horses/tanks first. Look for the forest defenders, counter with plane or mg. Deploy rest of the troops. If they appear far away from the deployment point you can continue with troops deployment and counter them only when they come near...

If you are still using footies, quick drop them 1st. They make quick work of forest defenders.
If you don't use footies, drop your horses 1st then your shooters. The defenders will attack your horses 1st. Your shooters will join in together too. That should give you a more favourable outcome.
Then drop the rest of your troops. Just don't forget to drop your healers 1st in the 2nd wave.

Just to add a tip. Don't drop your cat as your first deploy as forest defenders will spawn very near u. I find when I deploy heavy cal first, the FD usually like to spawn at opposite end of the base to take a Long route to meet your army.
