Medieval is a weird spot because your opponents get a lot of good defenses to deal with cavalry, shooter, infantry armies and your new tools in heal cart + ballista aren't very good for the percentage of your troop space they take.

I know what worked for me was 3 cavalry, 10 raiders and the rest infantry. Use the 3 cavalry to distract defenses and then use the raiders to hit farms, caravans and any exposed mills and markets. Pretty quick to retrain and you don't need to worry much about the design of the base interior because you're just hitting the weak points and exposed loot. You can try the traditional cavalry, bowmen, ballista, and healer army, but I remember it not working so well when I tried it in Medieval Age.

Also if you do go with the raiding strategy, I hovered around 500-700 medals

Hello Arthur,

Welcome to Medieval Age!

It'll help if you can tell us the nation that you're playing as, so that, we can suggest an army composition, taking advantage of the nation's unique unit.
I'm assuming a troop capacity limit of 65 for now.
In any case, in early Medieval Age, you should have success with about 2/3rd to 1/3rd split between infantry and shooters. If you're playing as a nation with unique shooters, maybe about 40 shooters to 25 infantry might help. If you're playing as a nation with unique infantry, maybe about 40 infantry to 25 shooters might help. If you're playing as a nation with unique heavy cavalry, maybe about 5 heavy cavalry and 35 shooters might help.
As for medals, it might help to stay between 200 and 400 medals. You should be able to either find easy bases to attack and return with most of the army intact, or you might find higher age bases with outlying farms and roads. In the latter case, you might lose the entire army, but, you might fill up all your food and gold storage capacity with one or two such attacks.

Feel free to post feedback on how this works out, and we can tweak the army composition to help you better.

Cheers and happy gaming! :)

in the late medieval you can start heavy cost setups. something like 1 healer 2 ballistas 4 knights 3-4 soldiers for smart play and cleanup and rest archers. learning curve is steep but pays off. especially in next ages where cannons become much more powerfull

All ages up to medieval is a good raider-fest, with a few infantry thrown in while staying at less than 400 medals. Its a good age to find juicy bases so you can first upgrade your troops and then if you want, your defences/walls. Raiders and footmen are cheap and quick to train, and you don't have to use all of them in each attack. Just drop enough to get the rss, then when you've got them retraining back at your base you still have troops for another battle - rinse, repeat. :)
That's for quick rss stealing - if you want medals/diamonds then you will want to go with a mixed army but concentrate on your unique unit - cavalry if you're French or Greek, archers if you're Korean or Brit. Some bombards would be good but I agree with TizJourney - you should leave the combo army until late gunpowder and hopefully your troops will be upgraded enough by then.

Hi guys,

Thank you for replaying.

I play the Roman nation and I upgraded 2 Baraks so my army capacity is 82 (going to be 87).

Hi Arthur, welcome to dominations! Concentrate on raiding between 200-500 medal range in medieval. Learn the difference between a full mill/market and empty mill/market, if the mill is empty it means that the farms are full. Train about 20-30 foot soldiers, drop about 5-15 to hit those full farms and caravans by the edge of map, retreat and lose the battle. Hit retrain and the repeat above with the other foot soldiers that are available for battle. If you see an easy battle, probably abandoned Iron Age base with poor defence, you can drop all your foot soldiers and archers to get a chance for 5 star to get diamonds.

Another aspect of the game is to be part of an active alliance that starts war regularly. Each victory gives about 400-600k food/gold which will help a lot in your upgrades. You just need to attack twice, and a good alliance will allow the lower age to hit for loot.

All the best and feel free to ask any questions!
